    Hey all,

Finally looking to replace my road weary '08 TRD 4WD front yellow Bilstiens.

Looking for just a normal, not too stiff ride without any height mod

Would like to buy an assembled strut and wondering if I would loose anything on the TRD thing giving up my OEM springs

Do I need gas bilstiens? I did the rear OEM....

Wondering how other Taco owners did...

    Thanks!

    Gregnan,
    5100?
Why would I need to adjust ride height?
Looking for an assembled gas strut with the proper spring
    Advantages of OEM TRD spring?

The 5100 has a setting for stock height.

Depending on how many miles you have, you don't need to change your springs.

same thought, but was looking for an decent assembled unit as not to mess with a spring compressor or unbolting the LCA.
Wondered what the TRD bilie was giving me? Always had a somewhat harsh ride, street potholes or off road.

discovered searching this forum that the OEM TRD progressive/Billie set-up is a harsh ride vs the non TRD 4WD and lots are being sold or given away in favor of 5100 and linear springs set at stock height.

May just go with pre-assembled Monroe standard, since I'm just into a daily rider/ boat puller/ firewood hauler :)

    2008 is my 3rd Taco @ 140K.
250K on my last two, Lovin it!

just wheel bearing and idler so far at 130K
plugs, filters, brakes, rotors, tires and oil of course....
re-soldered that compass/temp resistor 3 times now, ha!

never had any other mechanic touch it, which, helps!
some good ones out there, but not the one at the dealer that left the oil 2 qts. low!

You don't need a spring compressor or unbolting the LCA (just loosen them) to install 5100's at stock height, with the stock springs. Have a look:

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
stock OR springs will be fine set at 0 or .85. i have mine set to 1.75 and is still an improvement over worn out stock for sure. the progressive coils get harsh when they are over compressed. most abandoned the OR coils so they can get 2.5" with the linear coils. if u were gonna lift any i would recomend the eibach, my buddy put those on his 4th gen 4runner and set them to .85 and he wound up with a really smooth riding ~2.5" lift
