Sorry man but this is kinda sounding like you're asking us "hey guys do you think I can use this to commit some insurance fraud"? My apologies if I'm wrong, hope you drop the idea if I'm right.

Good bumper? honestly haven't put much thought into it. If by some miracle I did get a new bumper out of this I would probably just go with a sport bumper... any other options?

More importantly fender flares, I'm pretty set on getting them out of this... but is bushwhacker the only option?

No man, I plan on paying any extra charges for any additions. Just want to get anything that is absolutely wrong with my practically perfect truck. and if they say the damage is $$$$ then why not upgrade the damaged parts

Not insurance fraud to submit estimate, spend insurance on vehicle outside of repair shop.

OUCH that would really suck! Mine is a scratch so I'm just thankful its nothing bad at all! But the whole don't follow up thing is ridiculous, in other news turns out you can't call the campus police after hours... 5pm... cause no crime happens after 5....

But anyone with opinions on fender flares?

Good luck with the cops. I called the cops after a guy pulled a gun on me and cocked it. He got in his car and left. I gave them the tag numbers and nothing ever happened with it

Absolutely. OEM stuff can be pricy. If you can buy upgraded parts with the money given for oem go for it. When you said "milking" and fender flares it was like you were implying getting other damaged parts, that weren't part of the accident, replaced by insurance. G/L with repairs.
Agreed. Hell, it's not fraud to just pocket the money either. The "milking" statement started to sound as if the op had something shady in mind. Hope he gets paid fairly for what's damaged.

Sorry for the confusion but when the truck goes in for an estimate they will tell me how much its going to cost to fix it, I'm in no way shape or form going alter this process, I meant milking as more of convincing my self and parents (I pay for the truck and everything on it however they do pay the insurance) that its not worth fixing with 1 stock fender flare for like $300 when I could replace all 4 fenders for $500, plus paint.

btw, got my accident report from the campus PD today, all it said was "driver struck by black mustang on left side, black mustang fled."

I highly doubt they will replace all fenders.

damn, that's crazy. around here, campus police want to increase their presence to include all areas between campus and off-campus parking.

Give the reort and The tag number to your insurance company. They will find out who it is. With a little luck, you can strong arm the jerk into paying you the $$ to fix your truck with out any trouble. Good luck.

You need to change the thread title to "some dumb ass did a hit and run on my truck".

Your girlfriend didn't wreck your truck.

Report filed and it was on campus which is Campus PDs area.

No but if they say they want to replace the one damaged fender I will go ahead and get a full set of bushwhackers

Im covered for hit and runs so I will not have to pay anything either way however I have told them the tag ect and most likely my insurance will get ahold of his insurance and try to get their money back.

I thought it was a comical title as the first time she drives my truck she doesn't make it a mile before she gets in a accident.

I think I have a different take on this.. Get some quotes but i would wait on filing the insurance claim. Weigh out what your deductible is against the damage . It will hit your record and could affect your rates for years to come, I have easy access to my agent, they generally are on your side and can let you know if a rate hike would occur and if it is worth it to turn in the claim.

Another thing is you can run the tag of the owner down yourself at the DMV and go after them in small claims court. Police will only address the criminal matter you will need to pursue the financial damage in civil court.

If you turn in a claim to the insurance company they may still ask for you/girl friend assistance in pursuing the claim.

Like you I have had something similar to this happened to me and the insurance company gave me a check for the amount of the repair at the company of my choosing. That is your settlement for damages and you can spend the money as you see fit- I chose to do a little DIY work and made a few upgrades.
