    Ok, so:

    2013 truck
    38,000 miles

In great shape pretty much everywhere.

That said, there is a slight milky film on the oil fill cap. I know this is one of those tell-tale signs of a head gasket issue.

However, I'm curious as to the level that might be acceptable. I think I've read that this is quasi-common in Tacoma's? There is naturally going to be some moisture in the engine, this is where one would think it would condense.

The oil at the stick, after a short drive, was nice and clean and after a quick sniff test, didn't smell sweet like a head gasket issue.

The dealer is offering 1 year/12,000 bumper to bumper. I'm thinking just put it in writing that if this turns into a head gasket issue, they fix it, no questions asked.

    Any opinions?

I believe this issue is if the truck is driven more around town, short drives, stop and go traffic, etc... I dont think you have a thing to worry about. My 2012 did it and my 14 does the same thing.. its only if Im doing short trips and or im in alot of stop and go traffic. I only live about 3 miles or less to work.

Don't worry about it at all. Its because you drive it shorter distances. Happens on my dad's Tundra all the time.

If you don't believe me you can go for a long drive and you won't notice it.

The actual reason it happens is because on short drives the top of the long plastic fill tube and oil cap does not get hot like the lower part of the tube does, since it is on the block basically. Since the cap is cooler, the water vapor in the area condenses to water and mixes with oil vapor, which forms the milky "sludge" that you see. It's nothing to worry about, as has already been stated.

Completely normal. My 09 gets a nickle sized amount between each oil change.

    Wipe off. The end.

Excellent. The truck is very clean. Hoping the dealer and I can reach an agreement tomorrow.

Yeh, we are a little bit apart on price, but hoping to bridge the gap.
