Need Advice, Dealer Unwilling, Rear Spring TSB

Just got back from dealer for regular maintainence . Brought a copy of the rear spring TSB. Told them it didnt handle well under a load. They test drove it . They say it handles fine. I pulled out my copy of the TSB and told them that the repair was based on the customers complaint , not a test drive. They tell me that a Toyota service rep will be in next week. They will contact me to make an apointment so i can talk to him. Aren't they all Toyota service reps? Sounds like im getting the runaround. I guess i can try another dealer, but there really should not be an issue with getting it done here. It's also close to home. Maybe i need to mention that im a member of a Tacoma online community. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx

i guess it wouldnt hurt if u mentioned that ur on a tacoma forum and say that no other members have had any problems getting the service work done for their tsb's. plus u told them that it didnt handle well under load....them test driving around w/ nothing in it isnt testing it under load. also as u said, its complaint based...period.

A TSB is issued by Toyota, therefore individual dealers dont have the luxury of choosing to ignore it. Wht they say is acceptable may not be acceptable to you. It's not their truck, they dont drive it enough unloaded vs. loaded to be able to tell you its fine. I would press teh issue and tell them its obviously bad enough to warrant a tsb so you dont want anymore hassle. I didnt even have to take my truck to the dealership. i just called and told them about the TSB and they ordered the parts

I would ask the dealer again, and if they still have the same answer.

Tell the dealer it's ok, you will just call Toyota direct and ask them what they think. And make sure the service manager knows you intend to call Toyota.

The dealer does not want you to call Toyota and complain. Dealers get alot of money/kickbacks from the factory based on their ratings.

Worth a shot !

I just called Toyota direct. I explained my situation. They gave me a case # and told me that by wednesday a mgr from the dealership will call me.
Here's another thing that seems a little fishy. I've taken my truck to this dealership before .They have my info ,address etc. On my original invoice all info is correct. On my final receipt , my city and zip were changed .I believe that this was done on purpose so that i would'nt get a chance to give them a bad customer reveiw.

that is a very shady move to change the city and zip on your info. i would call toyota back and tell them about it, and escalate up through the management there too so they contact the dealer and tell them to stop f-ing around and just do the TSB. i just went to my dealer and talked to the service manager about it, and he was great about the whole thing. i'm bringing it in tuesday morning so he can see if the techs will find the problem (he's testing them to fire the dumb ones haha) and if they dont he gets to yell at them and order my parts anyway, so i should be all set

I did tell the national customer service rep about the address change. If my TSB doesnt get done at this dealer . I will make sure it gets done somewhere. I'm a little bit internet savy. I know that on a national level that their customer reviews really matter. I will continue to make my voice heard. There's no reason that i shouldn't get the TSB like everone else.
I'm thinking that because my truck is so clean that they think iv'e never hauled anything in it. I told them that when loaded with heavy band equipment, that it doesnt handle as well as it should. Told them i've never towed anything but that doesnt mean that in the future i wont.

the bedliner is mine is all marked up from ladders and roofing supplies, but i told my guy that i had 2 bikes in the back and some gear so it was around 900 pounds, and i told him that when they were in there, the back was bouncing around like crazy which is definately not good for 25grand worth of stuff sitting on kickstands haha....and yes, toyota really cares about customer reviews! my dealer bribed me with 3 free tanks of gas to give them excellent marks on the surveys, which i didnt mind doing because they are great with their service

Tsb

I have an 07 prerunner sr5 reg cab. I took mine into Carlsbad Toyota where I purchased my truck 2 weeks ago for the TSB. They took it for a ride and said they found nothing wrong (no load in the truck, idiots). At that point i got upset. They acted like they knew nothing about the TSB as i figured. I straight up told them the truck bottoms out, and there is a TSB. 5 minutes later they ordered the parts, waited two weeks for the special order, and now have a new suspension. 4 leaf pack in the rear, with Billy's all the way around. Trucks sits much higher and rides the way it should. I love it. Dont let them bull you around. Good luck

go into one of the TSB threads in the 2nd gen. tacos forum. it's for a replacement of the suspension because some of the 05-07 taco 4x4's and prerunners have a harsh ride and bottom out with a load in the bed, even if the load is well under the recommended weight limit.

Make sure you print this out, go through and highlight the sections taht relate to your model. Espescially if you have one of the TRD models...so that they do not swap out your expensive shocks.

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2ndpp/p...B-SU006-07.pdf

print this TSB report out, take it with you to your toyota dealer and tell them you had a load in the bed and the suspension was sagging and causing the truck to have a harsh ride. they will check it out and they should order the parts for you that day. because it's a TSB that warrants replacement based on a customers complaint, they can't just ignore it and it doesn't cost them anything because it's covered under toyotas 3 year 36k mile warranty too. this is ONLY for 05-07 4x4s and prerunners, trd and non trd. if you dont have the trd package, they will install the bilstein shocks all the way around, along with a 4pack of leafsprings in back instead of your 3pack u have now

Question Tsb

The Tsb States That The Regular Cab Was Excluded, I Told The Dealer I Dont Care What The Tsb States, My Truck Bottoms Out With My Camping Gear In The Bed, And 2 Kayaks On The Roof. Im Now Sitting With A New Suspension For Free. Sits Much Higher, Rides Like A Truck Should, And No More Bottoming Out... Now I Just Need A 2 Inch Lift In The Front To Level It Out... Any Ideas Out There?

i'd just use a spacer kit for the front to level it out, thats probably what i'll end up doing since the tires i wanna run are only 31's anyway, just wider with more offset

I got the TRD, may not be an upgrade but its worth a new suspension the way that I see it. Thanks for the info I was having some troubles finding it.

no problem buddy, and it'll definately be worth your while cuz not only will they replace the shocks for free but you'll have 4 leafs in the back instead of three, and it supposedly will lift your truck a little bit too
