They didn't pull shit about how you were impeading a police investigation or something did they? I've heard (zero experience) that it's harder than hell to be found anything but at-fault when you hit or are hit by a cop.

chopper, sorry for your loss.. and happy for your gain..

    glad you didn't get hurt!

i'm not trying to start an argument over the internet here, we all know how that works and ends..

    #1, no one is perfect
#2, those "damn pigs" drive approx. 100 miles per 8 hr shift, which is a whole lot more than the average motoring public, increasing the possiblity of a crash, at fault or not
#3, those "damn pigs" may have a lot going on inside their mobile office, responding to a radio, observing anything and everything
#4, you obviously do not know where they are going or what they are doing when "cops dont feel like stopping and will blow through stopS signs or flip their lights on and blast through a red light", maybe they are en route to a call, maybe they are following a drunk, the possibilities are endless

i hope you never have to understand the need for a police officer, but if you ever do, if/when a serious crime is committed against you and/or your loved ones, and you want everything in the world to be done about it, you may change your mind about those "damn pigs"

aren't we all trying to protect our country and it's citizens, sir? you don't have to be an MP to realize we're all on the same team..

    stay safe

In general, I'm w/ Mx Superfly... but there are times that I've seen police cars (w/ lights on and siren blaring) blow through red lights w/o so much as slowing down. THAT is unnecessarily dangerous.

Work vehicle? If you mean the helicopter, yes. It's more of a toy to me though :D The cop walked away as well, though he's trying to file a medical claim with my insurance. My insurance is fighting it, and is still investigating to recover their money paid on my claim as well as my deductible. The cop was at fault, I was NOT charged at all. MD vehicle code and their procedure says they have to slow down approaching an intersection to be sure they're being yielded to, he didn't, and barrelled into my right door at about 45-50mph. I never saw him at all. The street he was on is lined with homes that are very close together. Visibility from my lane down the street he was on is zero.

not true...i got found at fault when i ran into someone...regardless of circumstances around the collision...

    x2

    easy there big guy...

as mx superfly said...there is A LOT going on that the general public doesnt always know about

there are a LOT of calls that require a quick and speedy response...but cannot have lights and sirens...its a safety issue for the officers...

Very true and I have my respect for that but in a city that barely has anything going on it and they send 2 squad cars and a K-9 unit to 3 teenagers talking in a neighborhood pool at 11:30pm for a noise disturbance, I know when they do run a sign or something it usually is for a call but most of the time where they weave through traffic and speed down my 25mph street almost hitting a kid, there was just no need for it.

I have my respect but I always think as a roll model to the community, the police can be a lot safer.
