$770 for JBL, satellite, and Bluetooth???

I'm crunching numbers on the 2009 Prerunner Double Cab packages.

TRD Sport w/ stock stereo = $2605
TRD Sport w/JBL Audio, XM Radio and Bluetooth = $3375

That means $770 for a subwoofer, satellite radio, and hands free Bluetooth.

Worth it or not?

 

no.. you can probably get better for the same price.. but.... the xm.. hmmm..

 

I have XM but I hardly use it anymore. That company has never turned a profit...and one of these days I'm afraid they will go bankrupt.

Do you know if the stereo is the same on both versions, or is that part of the JBL upgrade?

I'd love to get the Bluetooth steering wheel controls without the JBL package. Possible or not?

 

i think they are different radios, the jbl has the 6 disc changer in the dash, I don't use the satelite anymore, but all the controls on the wheel are great, and the bluetooth work awesome, after having the bluetooth don't see how people can drive with that stupid thing in your ear. do it.

 

Dude - I got the stock radio.

Then I took it out and bought the Pioneer AVIC FT90 for $800. It is HD Radio, Satellite, Ipod, Bluetooth and of course, full Navigation (also plays DVD's Ipod Video, etc.). It also supports a backup camera (which has kept me from running over the family dog a couple of times now).

If you want, you can just use the head unit with the stock speakers and it sounds pretty good. Of course , sky's the limit if you want to upgrade amps, subs, speakers, etc. (I did)

Only challenge with tacos is finding right place for a sub. Factory JBL isn't worth it for what you get!

 

If you're getting a double cab, there is NO reason to get the JBL package. Most people have nothing but issues with it, and you can stuff a few subs behind the rear seats with amps. Plus you get to build a quality system (even on the cheap) over the stocker. Save the cash and build a good setup. Plus, it's so easy to work on these trucks you can save more money but doing the install yourself.
