I think the majority of the people do paint behind the grille, I know I did

    ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL THING
Since many things are made from ABS (usually ID'd by the letters ABS formed into the piece of plastic). I used a pipe hanger ($2.50 at Home Depot) and made 12 of these 'screw bosses.' These things won't break off anytime soon!

That is a beautiful thing. I have been using Super Glue brand Gel Epoxy and so far that seems to be working. I am still working on it slowly but surely.
Where did you find the spare ABS plastic? I don't know if I used ABS plastic or not, I fished a junk speaker out of the apartment trash that had a plastic housing. I am LOVING the idea of the Pipe Hangers though. I have thought long and hard about the installation of the grill. My idea was to epoxy bolts to the plastic and then tighten nuts down onto them, but this seems like so much more of a cleaner idea.

What do you think is stronger? Epoxy or the ABS plastic cement? The epoxy has a rated 15000 pounds per square inch strength.

BTW, I too heated up the plastic on the stove to shape it prior to reading your post :D

I got them from the dealership, i believe it was the emblem from the tailgate of a '98 toyota... cost about $28..

It came chrome, so it has a really bad white coat on it, if you paint it white i HIGHLY suggest putting on a primer coat first.

I don't like the large mesh as much as I like the fine mesh.

One thing I am wondering - if I sand my chrome grill surround, can I paint it?
