It won't hurt anything to drive with the cover off.

Just finished putting on the 3rd coat of paint on my cover. I really like the look of the clear coat and want to put a coat on. When I read the back of the clear coat can, it said "do not apply to surfaces that will reach 200 degrees F or more". The can I have is Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel. So do you guys think I can use that or should I get a kind that is more heat resistant? Also how many coats of clear coat did you apply?

This is why I want a Tacoma. I go over on the Frontier site and all the posts are like "timing chain breaks for the 5th time!", "piston slap on new engine ", or "coolant leaks into auto tranny, WTF?"

I come over here and instead of writing tales of mechanical mayhem, you guys are critiquing each others engine cover paint... (usually)

    Looks good, btw...

Just put mine in this morning. You can see the scratch under the 6 in "V6". I got a little impatient near the end of taking all the tape off of the letters. I thought about clear coating it but the can I have said to not apply the clear coat to anything that gets up to 200 degrees. Thoughts?

If I had some free time at work, I wanted to splash a mold and make a Carbon / Epoxy cover. Anyone done this and have a photo?

Not because it needs it, more so just because.

Also, seeing the added duct for the CAI, has anyone built their own CAI setups. Possibly if I search there is 1000 topics.
