Throttle Body??

So my buddy bought a throttle body for his t100 and he said it was super easy to put on and it makes a pretty big difference in power. any thoughts on this for an 09, is it worth it? and how difficult would it be to put in?

From what Ive heard its not worth it. All it gives you is a whistle

I just put a PowerAir Throttle Body Spacer on tonight with the new K&N Intake I bought and I notice a difference as well as the whistle... Any truck I have ever had the spacer on I have gotten and audible whistle at a certain RPM... Its pretty cheap and you might notice a little gain... Some guys like to change the mass air flow sensor when they do all of that with exhaust... It fools the engine into allowing a higher fuel to air ratio...

Throttle body spacers will give absolutely no performance gains to the 1GR-FE. These engines are direct injected, all you're doing is adding more distance for the air to travel to get where it's going.

More distance or more volume to pull from?? I have personally always had good luck with them so thats why I run one... Is it worth it? Prolly not...

You said this PERFECTLY. There are engines that will see gains from a TBS...the 1GR-FE is not one of them. It doesn't increase anything useful for the engine-For it to have greater air volume you would need it to push air into the engine- Like TacoNut said, a TBS just makes the air go further before getting burned.

For this engine- Not useful- in other cases- Might be great for your application. And if you still want one- Yes they are simple to install.

get some headers and an exhaust. TB not worth it unless motor is either supercharged and built. jmo

Are we talking a full throttle body replacement (as in larger bore)? I didn't read anything about a spacer from the OP.

I was just talking about a throttle body spacer... but from the sound of things it doesn't make enough difference to want to put it on.. any other ideas for ways to get more hp besides cai, exhaust, or headers?

I switched to a K&N air filter and added a Flowmaster muffler. Tiny gain in MPG, but huge gain in throttle response. My guess is HP was increased slightly as well.

Also direct injected. Ergo no.

HTF(how the fuck) is a throttle body spacer ever gonna increase air flow? Throttle body spacers are for isolating the throttle body from heat of being connected to a hot engine allowing for cooler air to get into the engine. And since my motor already has a plastic intake I would see that as all the isloation possible from the heat of the block/head. Useless, probably, just for a different reason. +2 on the OP sounding like he was talking about replacing the TB with another one, not spacer talk.

They were also designed to increase volumetric effieciency when use on carbureted engines. thye DO show gains on carbed, and Throttlebody injected vehicles, but when was the last time one of those were made?

Is there much of a difference between switching to a K&N air filter and a cai?
