ARB Winch Bumper - NEED HELP!

I have an '07 Tacoma and put an ARB winch bumper and winch on my truck along with a Daystar leveling kit on the front to bring it back up to stock ride height. 3 months later I hauled 300lbs in the bed and it now leans almost an inch to the left. I have been fighting with the dealership as they want me to return the truck to completely stock before they will replace any of the springs. Even 4 Wheel Parts (where I had everything installed) said they cant find anything wrong and it has to be a bad spring. The dealership even put it on a frame machine to see if the frame bent and its not. So now they are saying its because of the bumper and winch that weigh less than 200lbs. This is complete bullshit. So heres what I need help with I need anyone that has or knows someone with the same bumper to take pics of your truck no matter what year and send them to me. The pics will help me fight the dealership. And has anyone else had this problem?

My 07 TRD DC Sport leaned to the drivers side when it was brand new. It is fairly common. All the heavy parts are on the drivers side (battery, gas tank, driver). Your winch probably just made it more noticeable. Mine became more noticeable when I installed the bull bar. If you search the forum you should find several discussions about it.

BTW, welcome to TW!

Just curious. What is the make and model of your winch? Also, what is the combined weight of the winch, winch mounting plate, bull bar and any other attachments you had to add to complete the job.

OK. I see you got a MM9500. Can you provide the total weight please? Thanks.

Where are you located? I will speak to my Toyota mechanic and get back to you tomorrow, time permitting to see what may be causing the lean or what may have been over looked.

From what I know, you have little recourse, if any. You have altered and/or modified a product while under warranty thereby essentially voiding such claims. You have no grounds to launch a fight under these circumstances no matter what proof you may gather.

The dealership is within its legal rights to refuse to assist you beyond this point on the lean issue under warranty. However, it was nice of them to tell you to bring it back in stock form at which point they will investigate the matter further. IMO this is a road you must travel upon if you wish for an amicable resolution and continued association with your dealership. Be aware, the dealership still reserves the right to recover any costs associated with this repair from you. Whether they do or not, is a different story.

mine leans some to the drivers side as well and i dont have any of that extra weight. however, i do notice it more when i have a full tank vs. an empty one. a full tank weights about 147lbs...a lot of extra weight on that one side thats not shared across the truck

Toytec offers single spacers to correct driver's side lean. I've also heard that it is pretty normal. You probably didn't notice it until now. Studies show that excessive Taco moding causes extended periods of time staring at your truck.

We laugh about that statement but there is probably alot of truth to that. I didn't notice it on mine until I started modding it...

The ARB bumper is heavy and think you should check you leveling kit or suspension kit? I'm about to get the ARB and was told to go for the OME kit all the way around. This coming from employee's of Toyota of Dallas.

I have a slight lean on mine. It has been referred to as the "infamous taco lean". apparently it was on the older models as well as the newer models. On level ground mine is about an inch off.

Throw me in for 1/2 an inch. Never noticed until after I put on the bull bar and leveling spacers. I had a tape measure out checking after the leveling spacers, that's how I found it. That and the rear is also 1/2 inch lower than the front now. Don't notice the drivers side lean but the rear being lower is obvious to me. Got some 1 inch blocks for the rear and some timbren suspension helpers, but from what I've read I'm not too sure about putting the 1 inch blocks on and the timbren's won't help with height as far as I know.

Are you eyeballing this height difference? Is there somewhere to measure it? Top of tire to bottom of fender?

I can see mine leaning by just eyeballing it, especially after I added the bull bar. I measured from the fender opening, at its highest point, to the ground on each side.

I had read that you can maintain the factory ride with the blocks so I ordered them. After I received them, I read something about axle wrap and have seen several people state they wouldn't use them, so I probably just wasted 59.00

I measured from the bottom of the wheel well to the ground.
