Brake question

One more question, I heard changing brakes on the 2nd gen is a dealer job. Is that true? Is there some special procedure to follow, or is it impossible for DIY?

 

Standard Disc up front and drums in the rear. Nothing special or difficult about that.

If its just pad up front and no rotors your replacing then its the easiest brake jo ever, just take wheels off, remove two clips and colapes caliper pucks and drop the new pads in......maybe 5 mins per side!!!

 

I work at a toyota dealer just a hint, if u remove calipers from both sides don't do it do one side at a time because when compressing the caliper on one side effects the other side so if the other side is out the piston is poppin right out just a future hint its not a bad job

 

so in other words do one side at a time..?

i need to do a rear brake shoe replacement on both sides, 4x4 06 tacoma v6 automatic, how hard is it to do if i get the parts? i have auto experience, just not much

 

Nah my neighbor down the street, who has an '05 Taco, told me back when he got it something about the computer getting screwed up when you compress the piston. I can do brakes, just wanted to make sure that when the time comes, there are no surprises! Thanks guys!
