Why not contact Downey and see if they'll do a group buy on their skid?
Its a bit more difficult to install, but I can do a write up on it.

The OEM one is trash for anyone that actually wheels. It's a cosmetic piece.

I was under my 2006 the other day draining the oil....it seems like my truck already has a skid plate, albeit it is flat black. These aftermarket skid plates look just like it. I bought my truck new. What gives with this aftermarket, it looks like what I already have but in a different color?

It is a skit plate but it wont' really protect much, it can't hold the weight of the truck very well. THe after market bud builts and all pro's are designed for abuse off road, sliding on rocks, ect. The stocker will crumple under the impact and can still lead to damage to the components behind it.

meh....I don't wander over rocks and don't want any more weight added than I need.

why dont we see if we can get an all pro or bb on this. I would def be in if price is right. who to contact for this. I only believe one thing, mod a part yes, mod it once, realize its not the best and mod it again is stupid. If i am going to put a skid on, its gonna be the right one. A lot of people say i will never hit a rock, but one day, when you wanna go have some fun or nazi zombies take over, ur gonna wish you went in on the group buy for some good $hit

TRD aluminum crap is just for cosmetics, it will deform if slided over anything and if you hit it and bend it, you can form it back with a pair of pliers and a dead blow, I know this from personal experience.
The TRD sheet metal skid plate is very thin and I manged to bend the scoop corners next to the steering terminals while being recovered from deep mud.
I may build my own or buy some of the heavy ones from Allpro or BB, it all will depend on shipping charges to PR.
For now TRDs will have to do, but ASAP they'll be replaced.

Kharma time!.....due to your Bill/Michelle efforts I would be willing to part with my TRD skid for half price if you happen to float thru Houston area. I have been contemplating just putting the factory black one back on anyways so just PM if interested. It is completely intact & undamaged. See gallery, lemme know.
