There is no "factory tint." It's applied by the dealer from one of their venders. It'd be like any other normal tint job... film on the window. I actually have a few defects in mine already, reminds me I gotta get that fixed lol.

There is the 'factory' embedded blue tint in the windshield up top and the metal sun block dots above the rearview... but that's it. Also the windshield has a UV treatment... but so does every other modern car.

Some dealers put their own tint on like Kyouto42 said. My buddy who tinted my windows works at Courtesy Chevrolet tinting almost all the cars that come in and some used cars. He is employed by them but I'm sure some dealers use outside sources. My front doors came tinted by the dealer and we scraped that off with a razor blade so I can go darker but there is a factory bronze looking tint on the rear doors and back window that must be embeded in the glass because there is no film you can scrape off so he tinted over that. I went with 15% all the way around and the back is noticeably darker.

the DC's i know for sure have a tint in the glass. same on my 07 and 09. its about a 27% tint on the back 2 doors and the rear glass. not sure if its just a trd thing or not, but its there. i've got some 35% to go on my fronts now (darkest legal in NC)

my 09 TRD AC , my 01 b4000 mazda before that , my wifes mazda and her 99 suuby before that all had/have a "factory" or factory spec'ed tint or smoke job built into the layer between the inner and outer glass layers.

I had a light film tint applied over that.

It's embedded within the glass and as far as I can tell all DC's have it on the rear glass. It's 20% according to my tint guy's light meter.

i'm not sure if its the difference in embedded vs surface, but i put 20% on my 07 and u could clearly tell the 20% was darker....
