I kinda like that, but I can't use one of those rubber cases. I need to keep my phone in my pocket and those cases always get hung up and twisted around. I'll keep you in mind, Andres, if I come up with a design that's better for me.

I have one of your original one-piece Devil Horns emblems, and I get compliments on it weekly. Everyone loves it...

...except for the guy that changes my oil. He's ripped his shirt on it twice. I laugh everytime.

I actually live in Albion, it's a small town up on the coast about 3 1/2 hours north of San Francisco.

    Something to think about......

One way of dodging Toyota's legal bullet for "selling" these emblems may be not to "sell" them at all.

With you being a college student, have the people interested in obtaining these emblems to make a voluntary donation to your college education fund.

Ever seen a car wash fund raiser being done on the weekends by a school group ???? They advertise them as "free", but except (and expect) donations. That's how they get around having to apply for a vendor license and paying taxes for selling a service and/or product.

I'm not a lawyer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night...... :D

    Rocketball,
I really don't make much money on these... I'm close to making no money at all. I PAY for coolant, electricity, material (aluminum), bolts, locking washers, RENT CNC equipment (highest cost right there), etc. If I were to have everyone donate funds to my college, where would I get the money to cover all of those costs? does it make sense? making them cost me money and it's sad that not a lot of people know how things are made. Anything made in a machine shop is very expensive, specially if you're looking for something custom. I do this more for fun and not for money. The only alternative was the bracket with horns. maybe next year I will have the bracket for first and second generation tacomas and do some sort of raffle for 10 of the original Devil Horns of a quantity that Toyota will allow me to make. Thanks for the tip, I like hearing everyone's ideas on this.

What rocketball is saying is that if they are not officially for sale, Toyota may not have any legal recourse.

    For example:

You offer to make the emblems for a (insert amount of money here) donation to your "college fund."
Which then gets turned around and pays for all of your CNC expenses...

    Get it?

The problem is not only "selling" them, it's also that it's their logo that has been changed and put on toyota trucks. I don't think I have any other option than to have a good relationship with them and have them give me permission to make only a few every time I make a request. the closest to devil horns would be to:
    1) change the logo completely
    2) make an aluminum bracket with horns that will hold the OEM emblem
would anyone have another alternative to the devil horns logo? I think people like them because they are so similar to toyota's except with horns.

I'm a part time professional photographer, and in my experience dealing with copywrite law, it's usually not an issue until you profit from something.

You have the right to change any copywrited thing you want, as long as you do not profit from it.

In my example above, I use the "college fund" as a shelter for the money. Where the money actually goes after it is "donated" does not matter. Once the money gets deposited into a back account, there's no way for anyone to track which dollar goes to pay what debt or bill.

I completely understand what is involved in making these emblems, and I think it's cool that you have fun doing it and can offer them here to other board members. I was just trying to show you that there's more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Does anyone here have a first gen tacoma grill that i could "borrow" to get the measurements and make them for that type of truck? I have one that's the first model of the first generation, but I need the late generation model. I would return the grill with a free emblem for that favor.
