Dumb Question

Okay I am new to adding anything to a vehicle. I have always had used cars and the only thing that I ever added was a cd player. I am just wondering why are they called NERF bars?

Good question. I wondered the same thing when I got mine but never got around to caring why they called it that.

To further this thread out a little bit I have another question to go with my previous one. I just added an Extang Tuff Tonno III (Which I love) and can still use the rail system underneath. My second step will be to add the Toyota roof rack. Third I want to add (NERF bars) and my question is do you think I should get black or chrome? I have a 2009 Doublecab SR5 Super White. So the Grill and rear bumber are chrome but the tonneau and roof rack will be black. Which do you think will look better black or chrome?

I think chrome looks VERY out of place on a white pickup. If fact I own a superwhite and have blacked out all the chrome

I'm a huge fan of black personally...but if you have the chrome accents already- Either will fit...

Thanks I did not even think to look there. While it is a wiki it seems to be pretty informative.

Hahaha!!! Your asking the wrong guy!!! Depends on what you intend to do in the future. I have a black and white themed truck but since you got the chrome rear bumper and front grill, you might want to go with chrome steps.

Yeah...This one isn't a big deal. I know some that have political or religious undertones can have more bias issues.

Black. You can eventually replace the grill and bumper w/ either color-matched or black, too, to remove all chrome.
