I live in Southern Kentucky, about 3 miles from the nearest paved road. With the rims and tires on my 06, they stick out about 3/4 of an inch past the outside of the fender flares, so there is ALWAYS mud, dust, and gunk on my truck. I'll keep all 4 flaps on until one or more gets torn off by snow or ice or whatever, then make a decision about the rest.

I took both front and back off the second day I had my truck. They scraped on everything, and they look terrible flapping around in the breeze. I have not noticed any damage from not having them on. Also, its a truck, it's supposed to get dirty.

Front ones broke off the second time I went off road. They hang to low. But it's your truck, do what you want to do with it.
