Keep the front mudflaps on or remove???

Hey I received my nerf bars yesterday from autoanything.com. I got the Westin Platinum Oval nerf bars in black and they look really good with my SuperWhite tacoma. The only issue is that when installed the front of the nerf bars pushes the front mudflaps about an inch. So basically the mudflaps are resting on the front of the nerf bars. My question to you is should I just take them off or leave them on. Thanks for the input.

 

What are the laws in SC concerning mud flaps?

take em off and ill take them off your hands!

Leave em on but trim off about 4 or 5 inches, thats what I did.

 

If you can post a pic of how they look that would help us out a lot.

 

If you're going to do any wheeling, taking them off would be better as they've been known to the fenders off with them, or at least damage them...

Looks like the general consensus is off. If you want just trim above where it touches if you want to keep them on.

 

Well..being you're in Columbia you wouldn't really have to have the front ones unless it snows I would say take them off and try to find the shorter/stockier ones and maybe those won't touch. That way, you would have at least a little protection. Now, if you're mudding...isn't the point to get muddy?

 

I have similar nerf bars and removed the fronts because they scrape driveways and speed bumps.

I do get more road spray onto the side of my truck but the nerf bars take the brunt of it. When I wash it, the bottom front of the bars are always dirtier than anything else. I think they block a lot of the rocks and other crap that fly up.
I may put them back on for the winter because they run out of salt around here and use gravel (even on highways).

I was going to say that I bet the nerf bars would deflect most of what is kicked up after removing the flaps.

I only had 40 miles on mine and they left a line on me overfenders :-(

Who knows but hardly any trucks in this area have them. I rarely see a truck with mud flaps..

I personally think they look like crap so mine were removed a couple months after I bought the truck (about 1.5 years ago) and I installed nerf bars. I have not noticed any adverse affects from removing them, the nerfs block just about everything.
