I have an offer standing from a local dealer for 09 DC long bed TRD sport, in hard to find Speedway Blue for $25,400, after all the rebates and not including fees and tax. MSRP on it is around $31,200, and invoice for $28,888.

My question is - if they are locating the truck for me, and I know it will be coming from Connecticut, how many miles would anyone alow, before making a stinck about it that its not new anymore. The dealer told me that they will have to drive the truck here, which is about 120 miles away... and not transport it? (PM me on this so that I am not hijacking the post)

MSRP is 31.2k? The only trucks i saw with that MSRP were the ones that had a stage 1 lift kit and wheels. But even if so, that offer seems pretty good. They had to drive my truck about 15 miles and when i got it, it already had 66 miles on it. I hope i didnt get the truck everyone tests drives in. If so, thats a lot of test drives.
120 miles doesnt seem too far away. I wouldnt call it used at that point. Maybe you can request that the guy who is driving it over, to drive it like its his own and breaking it in. In your case, one guy is putting the miles on it. In my case, it may have been a dozen people drove it before it got to me.

You're right... the sticker on mine at the dealer was 31,450 (give or take a few dollars). I didn't pay near that, but I'm assumed all loaded TRD, 4x4, dbl cab, long beds were that price. Maybe the extra couple hundred bucks stacked on my sticker was dealer inflated... or extra buttons such as turning off side airbags and such? Not sure.

Went through the Costco auto program to get mine. Paid $250 under invoice. 09 Doublecab, sport w/JBL, tow, mats, running lights. MSRP was some where shy of 29k, saved about $5k off after $2k Mfg rebate. Got them to throw in roof rack, running boards, bed extender and bash guard for cost.

sticker price on my taco was 33K something, got it for 28k. On the 4Runner they were asking 23,950 got it for 19k. This was at the toyota dealer now, not some random used car dealership.

Good idea. You'll be much happier when you get exactly what you want. My wife didn't understand why I waited so long for the truck I wanted to come in. She understands now after she's seen all the extras my truck has than some others we were looking at.

MSRP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. "Suggested" is the key word here, as it's an estimated cost from them. I found this online... It's a little more info than you probably wanted, but good to know...

"MSRP is sometimes called the "sticker price," as dealerships used to place the MSRP of each new car on a large sticker on the windshield as a way to advertise to passing traffic. This practice has been largely replaced with a spec sheet on the side window that notes the MSRP. Some dealerships leave the MSRP off the spec sheet of certain models that are in demand, hoping to negotiate the best price possible. If the MSRP is posted, potential buyers might immediately expect to pay less than the dealership knows the market will bear. If the buyer has to ask for the MSRP, the dealer can talk about it along with various "extras" the vehicle has, starting the negotiations from a higher price.
The MSRP of a vehicle does not include taxes, registration, transportation to the dealership and other miscellaneous fees. While most people expect to get a discount off the MSRP, when all of the extraneous charges are added in, the price "out the door" might be close to, or even higher than, the MSRP. In fact, MSRPs used to be set fairly high, which allowed a good-sized discount, but in recent years the trend has tended towards setting the MSRP closer to the actual market value. Depending on the model and the demand, it is not unusual today to pay full MSRP at a dealership, plus the miscellaneous charges."

After TTL (CA sales tax is 8.75%), extended 7 year / 100k mile warranty, and the extras (running board, roof rack, bash guard, bed extender) total was a little over $30k.:eek:

Started adding up quick but I will be keeping this truck for a long time so it is worth it!

    Hi,

Double cab, short bed, 4x4, SR5 package with a few extras equaled about $25,975 OTD. The dealer sticker was over $28,000.

very good. I mean if it had let's say 400 miles on it then ok, that might be a more reasonable demo. But almost 3k it sounds like they were driving it everyday and who knows probalby were hauling stuff. I use to know a guy that sold Mercedes and they had plenty of "demos" on the lot but they were limited to 400 miles max. he said. The manager's driving them and even people test driving them were told not to abuse the engine. So... who knows.

all i know is i see dealer plates often and those are the cars you see driving 60mph in a 25mph zone and slamming on brakes peeling out weaving in and out of traffic, etc...
