center console connector (unused) ???

I have my center console out and there is a connector (8 or 10 pin) that is not connected to anything. What does it provide? I have my battery disconnected at the moment, so I can't probe it for power. I'd like to tap in and use it if it has power to hardwire my xm unit.

I know it's an option that I don't have...just curious what it does go to?

yep, that'd be the critter. What does it go to and does it have a switched 12v wire in it?

 

Its the rear locker harness. It's there on all 05+ tacomas, I believe.

 

I'd bet it goes to the inverter that powers the bed outlet. You guys won't have them if you don't have a TRD package.

 

I asked a mechanic at the local stealership. But they have been wrong before. But there are the black things just to the left of the steering wheel, same place as your Clutch Start Cancel button, should be six of them, the harness should lead up to one of the unused plugs there.

 

^ if it leads to the unused plugs it could be either the diff lock or the inverter. My guess is still on the inverter though. I'll see if I can find pictures of a sport or Off road with the console taken apart.

Picture of it in the second post. Looks to be similar. Bottom line, is that it is just a dead harness correct?

 

Well yeah, if you have the SR5 without the bed outlet, there's no inverter under the center console (you'd know if it was there).
I'm 80% sure that's what it is based on the pictures.

 

for sure there is no inverter. It was just an unused plug. I was hoping it had power (switched). Got to find another source then.

 

if it runs up to the unused plugs to the left of your steering wheel, maybe use it to bring power down from under your dash somewhere? If you needed a source under the center console.
