So woke up this morning started the truck and it stalled out. Turned the key again and it started the check engine light stayed on and I thought I will take in to the shop after work. Well got to the end of the street and it died again. Started it back up and drove out the sub division. As I was going down the road it sputtered had no power and would not go above 2000 RPM's Has anybody ever seen this before? Keep in mind my truck is an 05 DBL Ccab with 99,500 miles on it. Very welll maintained. I am thinking one of the sensors just crapped the bed. Tow truck took it to the dealership just wanted to see if anybody has experienced this before?

I'm taking a real wild guess here, but it almost sounds like that the MAS airflow intake sensor is either faulty or the the connection to it is bad. It could also be a loose vaccum hose. Any of those that come loose can screw stuff up. The only reason I say this is that on several occasions I've forgotten to reconnect the airflow sensor on mine and the truck will do exactly as you described.

I was thinking that exact same thing. I really hope that you are I are wrong because I here that sensor is super pricey. I was hoping for something like an 02 sensor or something along those lines. A vaccuum line would be really nice, but not sure that I am that lucky.

If its the MAS sensor, tell them you'll replace it yourself. Its a 5 minute job. That'll save you quiet a bit of money on labor.

Go to autozone or kragen or somethin on those lines.. they will hook your car up to a code reader for free and find out what sensor is throwing codes and what those codes are.. Then you can do a bit of research and figure out the problem yourself without Toyota charging you an arm and a leg..

Interesting that you stalled out twice and continued to travel down the road. I would've turned it around and got it back to my house. It was obvious something was wrong.

Sorry I can't help but i'm waiting around to hear what the problem is.

I did get it back to my house. It was in my driveway did not think about the code reader from the auto store. IT was early and I needed to get to work my only option was call tow truck and get it fixed and find a way to pick up my son from daycare. Yeah what PIA morning it has been. Just one of those days.

alright the long awaited 180.00 dollar answer was an O-ring on my volant (MAS) intake cracked melted a 10 amp fuse that ran the fuel injection system. This is a bummer that no scanner would have picked up. Well at least it runs now and I know if that O-ring goes bad again what it will act like. Expensive O-ring hey.....

yeah it could have been way worse. Did not know o-rings had such a markup and fuses wow those are hard to come by now days. No really it was a little steep but it could have been worse and I had a buddy stick his neck out for me to so it all worked out in the end.

yeah exactly. I just wanted to let everyone know that if you have a volant intake or maybe even a TRD intake that if that O-ring for the MAS goes out it really going to make your truck do some really odd things. Order another O-ring or find one that wiill work to keep on stand-by. Also watch you 10 amp micro fuse for you fuel injection system. The combination can be costly. I may have got off easy compared to a dealership that will say that the aftermarket intake and the O-ring caused your MAS to fail and charge you 300 or 400 when all you really need is a 2.00 o-ring.

not sure myself how they go together. Best guess is that when the O-ring cracked it disrupted the MAS and blew a fuse. I was told that it did not give a specific code.. It was a general code for a short somewhere in the electrical system. This took the teck on a search and they found a blown fuse in my fuse box. all of it is really weird and the oddest part is the fuse that was in there was not even a micro fuse it was a mini. It did not hae any business even being in there. Nobody has worked on my truck except for the tire shop and they only did the tires nothing else. So I am not even sure how the fuse got in there to begin with.
