EGR Slimline series come in both tape on and in-channel version. In installed a set (front 7 back) of in-channels on my 09 DC. No problems except that the tape for the back ones are a little weak. I picked up some double sided tape at Home Depot
and now they are rock solid.
Some folks complain that over time, and under extreme conditions, the tape on ones come loose or even tear off. Others have them on for years with no complaints. My cousin's left visor is peeling off his 07 4Runner. I think it probably has more to do with how well you prep the surface...and if you bugger up the tape with your fingers, prior to installation.
I personally think the in-channels look much cleaner as fat as aesthetics go.
If you want in-channel, exchange them and get in-channel. I know what it's like to just want to get something done...so you compromise for the sake of immediate gratification (I apologize if this is not your reason). My point is that in the end, my dissatisfaction of not having what I want always wins out...and I end up buying what I originally wanted and it costs me more in the end.
