Mods that Void a Warranty

I looked for a thread about this, but didn't find one in the first hundred hits so I'll make one.

I'm looking at doing some modifications to my vehicle but after the experience I had with my previous vehicle (used, little Saturn that got abused by the first owner and relatively no warranty to speak of other than on parts I had purchased and replaced through the dealership shop) I am hyper paranoid about doing anything that will void the warranty.

I imagine doing something like a lift might void it, but I've also got qualms about doing something as simple as plugging in a simple electronic tailgate lock that ties into the power locks I currently have.

Anyone have ideas or experience with this?

Yeah...It hasn't been bumped in a while but there are TONS of threads about this topic. Nothing you can do expressly voids your warranty...The dealer/service writer has to prove your mod cause the failure you want covered.

Moss-Magnusson Act is good reading.

 

Use some common sense and follow the instructions that came with the mod.
No warranty issues so far.
