Bummer you're not in the valley, or I'd do it for you, too.

I thought you had to rethread the hole (oversize) to insert a heli-coil. At least the ones I have seen.

The knuckle would have to come apart to fit a tap handle. At least the ones I have seen.

I need to get out more...

You could just move the ball-joint out of the way. The other bolts not stripped out, so just take it out, and spin the ball-joint around to where you could work on it.

After going to six different shops that refused to touch it due to it being too much of a "liability", I found a place that was able to help me out. At first the owner said he didn't have a tap big enough to help me, but when I happened to mention I had bought two replacement bolts just in case I needed them he got very happy. He asked if he could destroy one of the new bolts and use the other one to fix it. I told him as long as it is done right and I don't have to worry about it breaking.

So, he took out the bolt I jacked up:

    BadThreads_c8c62bd1ee2f516824f630b7b52c9d69a8c79e42.jpg

Then made a tap out of one of the new bolts:

And now it is good as new. I did not know you could make a tap out of a bolt, but it worked like a charm. He was done in about 30 minutes and charged me $19!!!!!!!! In my 11 years of driving/working on my vehicles, this was the first time I had stripped or crossthreaded a bolt and I thought I was in for a big repair bill, so I am happier than a pig in sh*t that it was so easy/cheap to fix once I found someone to do it!!

That's cool how he made the tap. Glad it worked out for ya.
