Black out Mud Flaps

I am fine with my OEM Mud Flaps, but want to black out the white 4X4 lettering on the rear flaps. Anyone done this or have an idea on what I should use?

 

So if I taped off the letters this fusion is made to be sprayed on plastic?

 

yep....fusion is for plastic.

another idea....maybe see if someone has a set that came offtheir prerunner...for cheap. not too sure how that paint will hold up on the flap..even if it is made for plastics.

 

Laquer thinner will take off the lettering. It's just silk screened on. I have not done this, but I did read about it on another board.

 

they are mud flaps...just get some cheap black paint and spray it on....its gonna chip/wear off anyways from getting beat up from all the shit flyin off your tires

 

+1 cheap as it goes, it will never hold though, they're too flexible.

 

if you dont want it to say 4x4...for whatever reason....just take them off and trim them up a bit. they will look way better anyways, the OEM mudflaps are hideous, and by trimming them or taking them off, your truck will look taller instantly.

 

Bump to see if anyone has done this and if so, how are they holding up?

 

Take a belt sander to them very lightly, sand off the white silk screen......won't ever chip then.

Polish remover should also work.

 

brake cleaner 5 mins and you are done

 

NC does not require you to have so just remove them. they become anchors in the mud anyways

 

You not kidding about the anchor part lol and i would take them off but im pretty sure people are starting to get pulled over now for not having them in Az.

It's so much easier to just trade it with a prerunner.

I just sprayed some sea foam deep creep on them, let it set for a minute, and then wiped the white off with a towel
