Some info I have come across says the higher pressure nitrogen in the 5100's is less prone to causeing cavitation in the oil, than a low pressure shock. A low pressure shock is more compliant over bumps. Personally, I have never experianced the OME's fade from use, and I have TRIED to make them fade, so I can only guess cavitation is only an issue if racing. And even then, Im not convinced it would materialize. In my tests, The 5100's have been up to 40* or so hotter than the OME's, leading me to belive the 5100's would fade before the OME's would, due to heat. Also, I belive the OME springs are better made than the Eibach springs in the Toytec kit. Eibach makes no mention of their springs being scragged (Pre stressed), while OME does. :)

I'd be interested to see if most folks would even notice the differences... and on the level you tracked and compared is totally intense.

    Thanks chris!!

since were talking OME...how does the firmness of the ride with OME shocks/springs compare to stock TRD O/R? or from 5100s?

    Anytime, Buddy. :)

I find they are softer on the larger hits. A little more firm (more controlled?) on the street. The springs are going to be a bit more firm due to the increase in spring rate. Stock is 540#, while the OME 885's and 884's are 590#. The Eibach springs in the Toytec kit are 600#, but can be spec'ed to 650# and 700#. They USED to offer a 625# rate, but Im not sure if that is still availible.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
    OME shocks > 5100s

I preferred my ride with the OME rear shocks than my Billys...

Have not ridden alot or offroad at all on the 5100s. But they were decent. I am VERY happy with OME shocks and springs so far.

Super smooth compared to the TRD sport set up.

They can charge so much more for the preassembled coilover kit because it's more convenient. And some people will pay a lot of money for things that are require less work. But as far as shock quality goes, I'm all for the OMEs. They are very solid and well built struts.

Not to threadjack, but why do Delmarva, kmoney, and badguybuster have the same avatar? Just thought I'd throw that out there.

My OME shocks and coils were very dissapointing. I think I sold them after I put 1,000 miles on my truck. I thought my truck rode better on and offroad TRD stock than with the OME coils and shocks. But to each his own..

Did you notice a big difference with the Icons? I'm about to order the same setup - Icons with TC ucas. How does it ride for you?

A very noticeable improvement in ride for me. I like it so far. I was having some alignment issues at first but that was my fault.

I am leaning towards that OME lift kit. It appears to have the one thing that I look for over anything else - bang for the buck.

I have about 4 inches up front now. I will be raising to 5 inches on Monday. The heim joints are still in the box till Monday, so cannot say much about them yet. But will update as soon as they are on.

The OME kit from Toytec comes with the Diff Drop...what are thoughts on using this?

It seems to be more common on this site but strongly discouraged on TTORA. Some actually reported the diff drop causing their vibes. Since it's only raising the front 2-2.5" it may not provide the benefit it does to those raising 3" or more.

I can save $29 if I eliminate the diff drop (or get it and sell it for $30 [IMG] ).

I cant see how the diff drop would cause more harm than good.
