    Hi Everyone,

new person to the forum, looking at finally moving out of my 269000 miled 96 s-10 to a Tacoma

I have a deal in place for a 2wd Access cab sr5 (base not a prerunner). The price they are giving me is $12900 and it has 35000 miles on it and its Certified.

I also have another truck that they offered for 12900 , its the same truck except its not sr5 and its 36000 miles. (non painted bumpers). They said to make them another offer when I mentioned the first truck but I think they will only go down a couple of hundred plus this truck has two small dents in the bumper and the middle rubber matt on it is torn. I've considered offering them 10900 if they dont fix the bumper

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
what year? I payed $12900 for a 2006 4x4 4cyl regular cab manual with a cap in a "salt" state. Almost an exact same truck, different color, was listed at 15,900 25 miles away. I saved the 3 grand and bought the ugly color. Like it now, as it stays clean and need a thrifty truck cause I lost my job.

shoot thought I put the year in there but didnt. Both trucks are 2006.

I checked KBB before posting and the trade in value was a range of 10555 to 12325. Private sale topped out at 14900.

I only got snowed in once in my s10 and that thing was horrible in the snow. I think I could live with 2wd but I'd prefer 4wd, the problem is every dealer around here wants at least 17k for one and I cant afford that.

Go with craigslist, and just make sure you get a carfax. Thats what i did and found an 05 trd sport access cab with 50,000 miles for 15000 from a private seller. (pretty good deal if you ask me)

that does sound like a good deal, in fact I offered that to a few places and they laughed at me. Craigslist is pretty bare up here in Detroit when it comes to toyota's because of the big 3.

Man after the responses I'm having second thoughts now.

Obviously i bought it from a private seller, but the guy was a nut who had all the service documents from new and all the work he had done at the dealership. Even oil changes and everything. Real meticulous guy. Anyways that sucks in florida toyota's are all over cl. At first i was wary about spending that kind of money from a private seller, especially when he was like bring cash (lol didnt happen) But after getting the truck i found out he had it leased and just sold it to me for amount he could buy it for.

    Hey everyone,

I never bought that truck in the first post, they actually sold it before I could make up my mind.

I'm been looking for awhile now and I have a guy who will sell me a 06 access cab prerunner sr5 with 62000 miles on it for $11,000. The truck looks great except the tailgate is dented and cracked from what he said was it bouncing when loading a bike in the back but its still functional. It also smells like a smokers truck but fairly clean interior.

Havent run the carfax yet but he claims its a 2person truck the original owner being his nephew. I had my cop friend run the vin and the dude. He came up clean and the car was registered to him. I drove the truck for about 10 minutes seemed to drive ok, but havent tested it on the highway yet.

If the carfax is clean, should I jump on this deal even with the tailgate damage?
