Question about Rear-End Diameter...

I searched for information on this but was not able to come up with anything definitive. Sorry if this has been discussed before.

I was looking into what it would cost for a gear swap down the line but since I'm new to Toyota's, I don't know what our rear-end size is. Does anyone know what the rear-end specs for the 4.0 4x4 TRD OR's are? Thanks!

Has anyone swapped to a 4.10/4.11? I'm not sure if it would be worth the money since we have 3.73's stock. I've always had 4.10's (or lower) in my previous vehicles and I'm kind of hesitant to get bigger tires with the 3.73's.

 

Should be 8" for all second Gen Tacomas

Those 3.73 gears in the E-locker are notorious for breaking. Not that they do it alot, it's just that breaking the others is pretty much unheard of.

 

So the OR's have smaller rear ends than the base model??? That doesn't make sense.

How about up front? I forgot to ask about the specs for the front differential. Thanks for the quick replies!

Actually, the ring gears are the same diameter (8") as you'll read on that site I gave you the link to. They just have different sized housings.

 

they are the same diameter, but still stronger setup than the e-locker 8.0"

30 spline pinion is better than a 27 spline pinion

From that same website:

There not the same, just the same size
