Why does my truck beep in 4 low??

I went up on some mountain roads this afternoon to give my 4wd a workout and had to engage 4 low a couple times. I started to hear a constant beep?? Is this normal? Also, seemed like the truck was in the same gear as 4 hi. You know, didn't seem like it was creeping along. Is something wrong with my 4 low?? Any help would be great.

If the truck is beeping, it is not in 4LO. You need to come to a complete stop, shift the truck into 4LO and sometimes move the steering wheel back and forth while you are creeping sloowly to have it engage. The alarm is letting you know that 4LO has not engaged properly.

Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try now. I didn't think Toyota would do something that stupid!

I'm sorry I meant I know Toyota wouldn't purposely make it beep constantly if it were engaged in 4 low. I'm the stupid on here! It works fine. Probably wouldn't engage because I was slightly moving.

Read the manual about 4LO again....

Manual truck- Clutch pedal to the FLOOR (not just holding the plates open) and the auto needs to be in neutral (I think??). Completely stopped and then the turning thing and a LITTLE bit of rolling motion can help.

I've never had problems with mine shifting in when I'm completely stopped with the clutch pedal to the floor.

Did you read the thread or just feel like bashing someone?? Cause you managed to be a fairly large asshole about a question that was asked and answered already.

Ohh...The big internet tough guy can call someone gay.

If you read what he posted-he was ADMITTING HE WAS "WRONG" and saying he'd try it again.

Your post added exactly 0 content to the thread. The forum is here to help people- Could he have read the book and got the same info- Yes. Could he have found the older threads about the same thing- Yes.

Does that mean you should be a dick to him about it-FUCK NO AND FUCK YOU. Go back to your hole troll.

Calling Toyota stupid for putting that warning system in there is ridiculous.

You, with over 4300 post acting like this is hilarious.
A) stop getting involved with shit that isn't yours,
B) Grow up and get over silly comments on the internet.

Wow, this thread got messed up, really quick didn't it.
Bolded section was answered before you ever posted a word....and the OP said "I did not think Toyota would do something that stupid" after it was- Indicating he was confused at first...and now had the answer...and realized that it was not Toyotas fault.

The admins/mods try to keep a reasonably friendly site going for everyone- Don't like what the OP is doing with his truck or the questions he posted- Get outta the thread...but don't post up snarky comments that don't add anything to the thread. Make sense??

I understood it the first time I read through the thread. I don't think he needed to apologize.

Either way, another question answered in a timely fashion on TW. It's nice to know that we've got a great resource here to help each other out with.
