I bought a cai off ebay brand new i sent the seller a best offer and he accepted it i didn't think he would except it i thought he would come back with a counter offer and i then would decide if it was the one for me. Its a true flow XDI I got it for $200shipped he was asking $300 originally. But what do u guys think of these don't u have to oil the filter or do something to the filter every so long?

TrueFlow is a good brand. What kind of filter does it use? Have a link to the auction?

I've seen the true flows online alot lately. While I'm not too interested in a CAI, I think they would be one of my choices.

With that intake you'll need to clean the foam filter and re-oil it when it gets dirty. Its not a big deal and it should be the only filter you need for the life of your truck. That was a good deal for that intake too by the way.

there is special foam air filter oil that you use. Im sure trueflow has some they recommend, but you could probably just use some motorcycle/atv air filter oil.

that looks very likely to suck up water or dirt, I have seen some people with a mesh material covering it but does this actually do much?

If Trueflow made an air filter for our 4 bangers, I would jump on it. $200 is a great deal.

but isn't that why it goes behind quarter panel and take air from there, not the engine bay?

^ I think he's talking about an open element filter in the engine bay, not one that draws air from outside.

Then again, I could be wrong because the one the OP is talking about DOES draw air from outside as do most CAI's out there (hence the name Cold Air Intake).
