Check your bed bolts!

Lately I've been getting a thunk from the rear, and also the "bed creak". So today I decided to rotate my tires, while I had some time I pulled out the torx set and wanted to see if my bed bolts were tight. Well they were loose, 3 of the 6 took more that 1 full turn. I don't really load the bed up that often but have towed some cars with the hitch. Maybe that caused some flex. I'm gonna take it for a longer ride this afternoon so I'll see if it helps with the bed creaks. I was kinda surprised to see the bed bolts coming loose, when I get a chance I'm gonna pull them all and use some blue loctite on them.

Add some blue loctite to them next time and it may keep it from happening again.

Good point, but I wouldn't stop at the bed bolts. Might as well go through as many as you can. Lately I have been hearing a rattle under the engine and was figuring on going under there to see if there is anything loose.

 

Yep, I would too. In fact, if you look at the service manual that comes in the glove box, it says to check major chassis/suspension nuts/bolts as part of the routine service checks.
