    Yea, just went with the B&D off Amazon due to low cost and free shipping. Got decent if not great reviews over the more costly dremel. I figured if I use it enough to justify the cost associated then I'll get a proper dremel. For now it worked really well for my needs with this project.

    Has anyone done this lock mod using the 1/4" lock and straight bar? seems like this would work and the internals wouldn't protrude as much into the console, since the "bent" bar seems be making up for the extra length.

    the first mod is actually a great, cheap alternative to the expensive tuffy lockbox inserts if it's just for general security, not something specific like a gun. great idea OP

    second isn't quite as useful, but still a great convenience mod. don't discount your ingenuity lol
