Clanking noise from front brakes?

Any one here have that clanking noise coming from the front brake pads. The pads move back and forth on the two pins. The round holes that the pins pass threw are now elongated , causing the pads to shift in the direction your going and when they stop " CLANK". Just asking. Sean

 

They make a grease/ lithium soap to put on the back of the pads that might help. It's really inexpensive. You would usually put it on when installing new brakes, but taking them apart and adding some might help.

 

Nope!! that would be diff. noise!

 

Not necessarily. There have been other posts about the same noise. Give it the old search-aroo!

 

I have the same issue, smcgill. It's a clunk sound when braking. It's definetly loose pads hitting against the caliper. Glad I'm not the only one. Here is a sound clip I took. So how do we fix it???

Well when the pads are ready to be replaced because of wear , I'll go aftermarket! Maybe the metal will be stronger & not wear or elongate the holes! It's funny that Toyota will not ac·knowl·edge this problem on the Tacoma's , but did say some of the cars ,it's known! Sean

so replace the pads.

 

If the pads are moving around, it might be that the pins have worn or that there is a design flaw. Replacing them likely won't help.

 

Mine have been doing it since day one. Its not quite like in that video, its just a single clank once they are actuated. Either way, I never really worried about it, since it was that way since day one.
