TRD Short Shifter

I am interested in the TRD short shifter for my truck(2008 access cab, sport pkg) but I can't find much information on the forum about the TRD shifter. Seems like most went with the URD shifter because is was cheaper and just as good. Since my concern is for the TRD shifter I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has it installed. How is it, can you keep the stock leather shift knob. With it installed does it look stock, does the console and boot retain the stock look. I would be interested in seeing pictures if anybody has any on the interior looks.

The TRD is an entirely new shifter. The URD is a extension to the stock shifter. So in the end, you end up with a taller shifter with less throw. I ordered my truck with the TRD shifter ( Pic below). And you can use the stock knob if you want, but mine came with this TRD ball. The shifts are super crisp and the throw is very short.

Thanks vabchxrunner and my68ur8trd.Thats the exact info I was looking for. MY68UR8TRD I appreciate the picture. I plan to get thr TRD shifter and have the dealer do the install. I have installed similar shifters in cars but I think this time around I will let the dealer do the install. The truck is only a couple of months old and if any problems of any kind pop up then there will be no warrenty questions. Thanks again for the replies.

very very very simple, takes about 10 mins to do. if you feel that the dealership has to do it, please don't let them charge you for hours and hours. 10 mins tops!!!

Thanks for the update. I have done installs like this before, the longest part was removing the console and everything else to get to the shifter. If you know exactly what to remove then the install should be 1 hour or less. I plan to call around today to get somes prices on the shifter and install cost and time. Thanks again.

Found web site to order TRD quick shifter www.toyotaterritory.com. Toyota dealership that offers toyota/TRD parts cheaper than any dealership locally. They even offer 90 days same as cash for $299 and under. $300 to $499 6months and over $500 12 months. The best price I could find for the shifter was $349, $300 at toyotaterritory.

Installed the trd short shifter and it is great. It does make a difference. I let the dealer do the install, took them about 1/2 hour. I would recommend this option to anyone who has a 6speed.
