    agreed, E85 for power has its advantages, but for everyday driving, its a bunch of bull.

    now to the pricing...yes, if the spread is 30%, you will save money, but you first have to pay for either the mod kit, or you have to pay a premium on the vehicle that can run the fuel. but if the spread is only 10%, your actually losing money w/ the E85. then there is the problem of stations that sell E85....

    Not to mention the huge price increase in corn ingredient products and people starving. Using your food supply as fuel is about as moronic an idea as they come.

    E85 is really only a good thing for forced induction motors. In order to run E85 ALL you need is a fuel pump that can support it (walbro 255lph pump is good to 450hp on e85) and a larger set of injectors. You need 30% more fuel to create the same burn as regular pump gas. In turn you loose 30% fuel economy almost to a tee!

    In my last car i was able to pick up 50 wheel horsepower and 80lb/ft of torque! So for power its great. I just had a customer car (evo 9) on pump gas made around 500whp and on E85 made 700whp. For that power level you would need to run some type of race gas (c16,q16,etc.). Now at 16 dollars a gallon for q16, running e85 seems REALLY worth it if you ask me. Yeah you might loose a few MPG's but picking up 200 horsepower is well worth it.

    E85 octane "rating" is about 104-105 or so however it burns so cold that you can really push it. When we tuned the above car on vp import (120oct) it picked up another 100whp. At 27 dollars a gallon for import i would only run import at the track.

    Bottom line is e85 kicks ass for the right car. If there was a good way to tune the tacoma (im picking mine up tomorrow so i dont know all that much about tuning them) slapping a supercharger on one and putting bigger injectors and a fuel pump in it would be worth it. For us N/A motor tacomas e85 would be a total waste.
