    As needed, and some not.
I have a kenwood HU. I took enough wire to run a line to and from where i wanted the switch to be located and wired it into the HU ground. The reason for the switch is because it is illegal to have it playing while you are driving. If you get pulled over you can hit the switch and the picture will turn off but the sound will stay on. Pretty easy. I've read here somewhere that on some units you have to turn it on and off (the switch) a few times when you first turn on the HU to get it to work.

Dudes you guys all have it wrong. Watch the youtube video. You need a $5 relay that switches the ground on. The Pioneer knows if the ground wire is permanently grounded. The relay grounds the green wire so it tricks the deck into thinking that you pulled up you hand break. Don't buy any bypass thing from ebay they are all ripoffs. You can get the relay from you local auto part store. all you need is 4 or 5 prong 12v relay commonly known a Bosh relay.

I have the same HU and yes, the youtube video posted here is all you need to know. The relay is literally $5, and you'll need a few female connectors and some spare wire. Very easy to do. Good luck
