ultraa cheap

This is probably as good as the "washer fluid reservoir - drilling a hole in the top" pseudo mod mentioned a while back.

For the little cargo compartment doors in the box, I just drilled holes in the knobs and put in screws to keep them from being turned. With the heads painted black you don't even see em and that should slow down any thief (and myself) from getting inside them.

other dood beat me to it, but there it is lol...that actually came from all of my friends doing it to their fancy little import go-karts, and it just took off from there...it's something that is cheap and easy but it completely changes the look of the taco

Alternate way for locker anytime

Thanks to dbbd1 for this. It uses 1 wire instead of a relay. Looks like you could ground this one wire permanently to just use the locker button to engage it, or wire in a safety switch like dbbd1 did.

He can answer more questions about it.

Locker Mod- An Alternative - Toyota Forums :: Toyota Nation

EDIT:
FYI - This from Fortech on TN after doing this mod:
Quote:
Did this mod today, and just finished testing. Here are some observations with my 2005 TRD Off Road 4x4 Access Cab:

1. Truck threw a check engine light. Shutting off the truck and restarting doesn't clear the light, even with our new "safety switch" in the off position.

2. Locker will only engage at 5mph and below. Above 5mph the locker light will blink, ABS doesn't illuminate.

3. If you have the rear end locked in 2wd and switch to 4H, the orange "4Lo" light blinks. Returning the dial to 2wd does nothing. To switch back to 2wd you have to unlock, then return the "safety switch" to off, then the truck will return to 2wd.

4. If you are driving in 4H and lock the rear end, everything works great - until you try and switch back to 2wd while still locked. Same result as #3 above.

I didn't try to switch to 4lo. I'm not sold on this method of the locker mod just yet.

If you wanna type it up here, I'll edit the TOC to include it. Never done it, so I'm not gonna write it up!

For less than 30.00, this mod really needs to be on this list.

I didn't think about adding that since people with lifts don't need it, and the TSB does the same thing for free from what I could tell. Has anyone with the rear leaf TSB still needed those?

Cheap traction bars

So you can't get the rear leaf TSB done because you're out of warranty? Pick up a set up helper springs from an auto parts store for around $30 and mount them backwards.

Like this:

This helps prevent wheel hop, axle wrap, and body roll by stiffening the suspension if you're out of warranty for the TSB, or don't want to lift the truck. If you have an AAL or leaf pack lift (or TSB) you probably don't need. it. I had those problems before my AAL, and they went away afterwards.

Like db said, the link with more info and reviews from people doing it is here:

In cab 110v Outlets

Thanks to PB for this mod.

Add 110v outlets in the cab if you have the stock inverter, or want a more powerful one and more outlets than just the bed one.

This can be as cheap or as expensive as you want depending on the inverter you get.

Foglight Mod Q&A.

-FYI Only. PM's between piercedtiger and myself.

Originally posted by dan_o_89_rs:

Reply by piercedtiger:
...the fogs work manually with the switch. So as long as the switch is on they will come on when the key is turned on, and go off when the key is turned off. So if the switch is on and the truck is on, they will be on if headlights are off, low beam or high beam. Headlight setting has no affect on them anymore...

Yup! That's a great one too! Makes the truck hood easier to open than my car hood.
