This is one of the more difficult decisions I've ever made: I can buy an '09 DC, Silver, 4x4, TRD Sport with roof rack and running boards or I can buy a '10 the same way except without the roof rack and boards for about $550 more. I have mixed emotions about the rack; does it look good or bad? I know that it shouldn't matter what other people think but sometimes I'm way off base on these things.

    Thanks so much,

    Wes

Hey man I love the roof rack and it will be my next purchase for my 09 doublecab. But again its personal preference. Also ask yourself if you will use it. I will be getting the roofrack because I canoe alot and would like to keep the canoe up off of the roof.

Personally, if I was in your situation, I'd go with the '10.

I think you should go with the 09 if you can work the price down a little more. If not, I'd go with the 2010.

If you can get the better deal on the '09 with the roof rack, then go that way... you can always take the rack off and sell it. Just make sure they throw in the covers that go on the truck when the rack is off.

You never know... you might decide down the road that you need it :D

Why pay more for a truck with FEWER options?

Get the price down on the 09' if you can. Roof rack and running boards look killer! There shouldn't even be any difference between the 09' and 10' anyways.;)

How would we go about filling in the holes the roof rack leave?

Has anyone ever successfully removed the roof rack? My concern is where it contacts the paint; I've had bad luck removing previously installed accessories where they touch the paint.

    Thanks,

    Wes

i like the roof rack, i would go with it. I think it gives the truck more of an aggressive look.

Buy the 2010. It's a no brainer! You are moving up 1 full model year for $550. The 2009 has already depreciated and it hasn't left the lot. Now if the difference was more substantial like maybe $1500-2000, I might opt for the 2009. Are both trucks silver? Also, are those the running boards you want? There are so many options out there to choose from. I keep changing my mind what I want to do to mine. Good luck with your decision and post pics when it's done.

2010 hands down! You can get a roof rack later, you can't take a year off your truck!

Well guys, thanks for all your opinions. I think that I've decided to hold out for the 2010. I'll have to wait for a couple more weeks or maybe even a month but I will have it spec'd out exactly the way that I want it (sans roof rack!). I'll be able to spec it out before Gulf States Toyota gets their greedy hands on it and throws a bunch of accessories on that I don't want. I definitely see the functionality of the roof rack but I've always leaned toward the more conservative side of styling and I don't really have a use for it. I know the TRD Sport package isn't really conservative either but I really like the way that the color keyed components flow with the rest of the truck. I think that I also prefer the Gray Metallic over the Silver and I will be able to get that on the 2010. I look forward to participating in the forum and I'll post some pics when I take delivery!

    Thanks so much,

    Wes

I could've made a deal on a silver Tacoma when I bought mine but decided to buy a magnetic gray metallic that was on another lot about 4 hours away that had to be driven in for me. With that being said, I have no regrets that I went with the magnetic gray!
