Good morning All. I am at 35,000 miles on my 06. My warranty is almost up. Has anyone ever sent their rig to a third party mechanic to check things out just in case there was something that could be covered under the warranty? Also, anyone notice any major probs after they turned 36,0000? Just curious

I know the feeling... I've had my truck a few days shy of one year, and over 24,000.... lol

I'm only 17800 on my 06, but the 3 years is up next month. I hope nothing goes wrong after September.

You still have powertrain warranty after the full factory expires.

My 2006 is about 1000 shy of the 36k mark & I plan on a dealer visit to fix the air intake rattle again & the fuel filler door before it snaps off. My bottom hinge is hosed & the dealer won't cover after 3/36 so I hear. Nothing major.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
I have 32K on my 06, , considering the number of people that I have talked to, one guy has a 06 with 60K on it and he just does regular maint.

Perhaps the best way to check things is to take it to a trusted mech along with the owners manual and have him look at the 30-36K maint spec's and go from there.
If its a normal truck I doubt if you will see any major problems. Of course off road work it tougher on any vehicle.

My 08' has over 52,000 on it. Trucks been sound except for a heater blower motor, power steering pump, and rear spring tsb. Just keep changing your oil and greasing your u-joints and it should run with 0 problems until 100K.

Yeah Jeff, good advice. Truck has been solid so far.(Knocking on wood) I'm guessing the honest folks as Toyota would benefit more from holding back from telling you if something major was about to go wrong, right before the warranty expires. I know that sounds bad, but can't help it!!

right about 36500 the engine will blow, which is normal for these trucks...
im at 125k and still going strong. i bought it used at 84k, so luckily the previous owner had the responsibility of replacing the engine. other than that, i just changed the tranny fluids at 100k and do regular maintenance...all is well...

Funny Yosh! I'm not nervous about it going over 36k, just curious if anyone had taken it in for a final look over before warranty expiring. I know Toyotas r solid.

    i thought so too!

the only thing i can think of is to get all the TSBs taken care of if you wish (leafs, tailgate, misc engine ones). also, there were some guys complaining of failed rear ends on the 05s, but im sure they have that straightened out by now.

Might drop by my local dealer in the next few hundred miles and ask them what the cost is for the 36K check up. Probably should look into any TSB's that are in effect, too. Good thoughts yosh2000, lets go easy on the engine replacement jokes. LOL

make sure you know what is involved in the 36k checkup, from what i recal those things are a complete ripoff. all the stuff they do you can do yourself.

and engine jokes on toyotas can never be taken seriously...i have 120k on my current taco, and i had almost that much on my previous...these things last...:D

i think it is 7/100k. they are just under 1k from a guy here correct? might be something to look into, as long as you know all the terms. make sure you know what the deductible is..

Do I have to go to the dealer to find out info on the 7/100k warranty? Where I bought my truck from the dealer gives a liftime powertrain warranty, is it similar to that?
