show off your roof rack

im interested in purchasing one and i want to see if any of u have any after market roof racks

 

Did you ever have any luck on what happened to your truck? I am sure you posted somewhere but I just am curious.

i like this kind of rack, do they make it for the roof of our 2nd gens? and u think it would look stupid?

 

I actually made that over the summer. Well actually over the course of a few days but yeah, it's one of a kind! I took my basic design from that of a Yakima my friend has on his 4Runner. Made the side rails a bit taller and added a few more support "beams" but other than that, it's the same concept. Made it the first time out of PVC to see if I liked it and if other people commented on it. I loved it so I went back and made it again but this time out of aluminum.

 

That sucks man. That was a damn nice truck. I always loved it.

I'm 17, it aint that hard to do. Plus I don't have the kind of money to throw $300-$500 down for something I can make for MUCH less. All you need is a tape measure, pen and paper. Make your own how you want it and to accommodate your needs. I made mine to carry spare and for my new PIAA's and Hella's with the occasional duffle bag for camping or fishing or hunting. BUt make it for your own needs man. Take some pride and sense of ownership in your Taco. Makes you have a much better respect for it.

(plus when someone goes "where can I buy one?" it makes you feel awesome because someone wants something that you envisioned and something you created with your own two hands) WOW what a ramble!

I've actually got three different setup in one here....Frankly,I'm not 100% happy with it.

The base is the factory rack.....attached to that is a Yakima system designed to attach to factory rails....On top of that is a Yakima LoadWarrior that I bought less than a week ago.Since this pic I've stripped down to the factory rack and decided to sell the basket.
