Doing it yourself ensures the oil AND filter are good quality. Don't forget that filter quality matters too. Believe it or not, Walmart's generic oil filters are great quality...better than most name brands.

I swear the "oil" used by Jiffy Lube and maybe the dealerships is shit-colored orange juice.

My humble opinion is that it is asinine to pay for oil changes. It's not rocket surgery.

Anyway, I have Krazie SJ do my oil changes.

Did you remember to deflate all 4 tires too?

Yeah I just cranked it and said, wait a minute...followed by actually waiting a minute, then I capped it again and checked my hands for the colour and said "Fuck me with a stolen dick."

This was quickly followed by much mocking on TW.

I just did mine at 10,000 miles. The best part was the catch pan slid right underneath with about 1/2" to spare, so it caught every last drop. I chose to do my own because when I bought the truck 2 months ago as a demo with 7,900 miles, there was no history of the oil change written in the book, but they ASSURE me that it was done. This is the same dealership that delivered the truck with 45 PSI in the rear tires, and 42 in the fronts, clearly over-inflated even by the sidewall standards. The "ultimate oil change" thread is all you need, and the drip hose under the filter (4.0) is awesome. One question- all the filters at my FLAPS were about 3/4" shorter than stock- any problems with this?

I enjoy doing my own oil and filter changes. I put on the Fumoto drain valve. Could not be any easier.

Got my case of Amsoil 0w-30 and my new Wix filters yesterday. Going to go after it this weekend.

I am planning on doing a tire rotate as well. I am taking it somewhere for the tire rotation as I am going to switch the white letters around to black wall.

I am right at 5000 miles, is there anything else I need to do on the first service besides oil?

I'm still having the dealership do the oil changes right now since it's free and I get the tires rotated. I've got 41k and I'm planning to start doing the oil changes myself & switch to synthetic at about 50k.:)
