debadging question

how would u suggest debadging a 07 tacoma?
does it remove the paint if u take off the tacoma logo on the door sides?????

What to use? WD-40, dental floss, and a lot of care and patience.......

Also leaving it out in the sun on a hot day is helpfull. Can use a hair dryer carefully to warm up the adhesive too.

Question: why would you like to remove the logo? and are you having plans of replacing it? just my curiosity...

Have you ever done this before? If you haven't it's not very hard, you just have to be patient and take your time. Actually, you will need some Goo Gone as well. The badges are simply stuck on with 3M automotive tape. The easiest way to do it is to heat up the emblem piece by piece with a hair dryer as spp mentioned, once the adhesive is warm and pliable, spray the entire area with WD40 (this will help break down the adhesive on the tape), using dental floss, gently slip the edge of the floss under the edge of the emblem and using a light sawing motion, the badge will eventually come off, though this may require repeated heating and WD40...be careful not to scratch the paint. Once the decal is off, you can use the Goo Gone to remove the remaining adhesive. Once you have it cleaned off, you will need to wash and wax the entire area where you were working. This can be done with a razor blade instead of floss, but there is a much greater risk of scratching the paint very badly.

LdyTaco05.......Quite a few people debadge their vehicles, especially younger people with sports/sporty cars........some even put badges on their car from other car makes......like when you see a VW GTI or Toyota Corolla with a Honda/Acura "Type R" badge on the back..........maybe the new badge adds 50 horsepower? Other people debadge their vehicles for a nice clean look...or they're tired of trying to wax between the letters!

Huh, I paid for my Toyota emblems. My GTI cam with one debadged grill, and I searched to get a replacement. I guess I don't act my age...

I prefer the clean look myself.. Have never been fond of stickers on my vehicle. TRD or not.. don't want it!

I personally like the chrome emblems on my truck but I removed the TRD stickers. Stickers will fade before the paint will. Emblems usually last longer than your paint.

Nice look.....I took ALL the badges and stickers off my truck, and it's a fully loaded SR5 Ltd, chrome etc. It looks really clean and definitely easier to wax. Just take your time and be careful........all these ideas work.

i like the clean look and this summer when it warms up they go off , i like a clean tailgate not one with two chrome plastic labels on the and think the body on the side looks better without a 1 1/2 inch tacoma in the middle of the door.
so the tacoma's for sure are going and probably the toyota on the gate !

I used 50lbs monofiliment fishing line and a 12 pack. I'm trying to get Hilux decal from over here to put on my Tacoma.

heat gun (carefully, don't get it too hot!), peel it slowly while applying more heat and it will come off in one big piece, then use goo-gone to get off the rest of the adhesive. if you heat it up a good amount to where the decal peels off easily, generally it'll take most of the adhesive with it. just make sure you wash the area really well after you finish

I debadged my truck a while ago. I took all the chrome off but left the TRD stickers. Its really easy. Just use a hairdryer for a few minutes on each emblem then slide some high test fishing line behind it slices right through. Then you just use Goo Gone or in my case Goof Off on a soft rag to get the rest of the sticky off. I will say that the two "Tacoma" badges on the side of the truck are the hardest and have MUCH more adhesive than the other badges. I didnt wax or buff the area afterward adn after a week you could no longer see the outline where the emblem use to be. Its a much cleaner look than having all that unsightly chrome all over your pretty truck (i hate chrome) its a real easy process and looks great afterwards

That's the second thing I took off after the dealer stickers. There's nothing more disgusting than seeing one of those big Dodge trucks where the driver actually added a huge "Dodge" sticker to their back window. Or the ones where the owners make it very clear who they'd like to "piss on". Hahah..bunch of rednecks.
