Rear differential (I think)

When I lightly accelerate lets just say a red light, from me taking ny foot off the brake and push the accelerator there is a slight jerk. It feels like its from the rear. I believe its the rear diff. but what exactly is it?

 

is that major or minor breakdown?

 

That looks like it would be my prob. good thing im under warranty. As a toyota owner, does a 3" lift kit an nice set of wheels n tires would void my suspention warranty? what do you know as far as warranties?

 

I might mention that have a heavy foot as far as taking off. would that be the cause? thanks for all your help.

Well if had an axle wrap, would it cause vibrations from the rear? Cause there is none at any speeds.

 

Besides general maintnance, nothin was done to this truck

 

YES-

Axle Wrap is not ALWAYS a "defect or breakdown" It happens to some degree on any leaf sprung set up. I'd give a try at easing into the skinny pedal...It'll help you mpgs too...and my guess is you won't hear a clunk.

This could also be driveline slop catching up with everything....Little slop in the trans, little slop in the shaft, loose on the gears and then you goose the skinny pedal and everything hits...makes funny noises.

 

or it could be the slip yoke on the driveshaft. I have the same problem and it is not axle wrap
but being 2WD there are no zerks on the driveshaft and no way to lube the yoke on the tranny side without removing the driveshaft. been dealing with this for a year with no solution.
Maybe get a custom driveshaft made?$$
I was thinking about replacing mine with the back half from a 4x4 (it has a slip yoke/shaft)

Yeah a custom anything is $. I also bought the extended warranty. If there is a defect, i never got any word of it from toyota. This particular dealer is a pain in the you know what. Long story. Therefore I'm going to have to make another scene at the service desk.
