I hate being that guy...

OK, I've done my homework reading all the posts about exhausts', but I think my question is a little different... if it isn't someone please point me in the right direction and I'll be sure to open my eyes a little wider next time.

I appreciate the stock exhaust note throughout the RPM range. I'm looking for a complete dual exhaust system (cat-back) that bearly raises the exhaust note. I'm talking very little all throughout the RPM range.

I don't know if anyone has heard the exhaust note on a 350z. It's low, nice little rumble, you can hear it when you get on it, but it's NOT loud at all. Smooth, clean, and NOT raspy.

Any Suggestions???

if you are wanting a dual exhaust set-up, about the only ones i know that are made with dual exits for the tacomas are flowmaster and mbrp. something you could do though, is buy a relatively quiet muffler(magnaflow has some that are very low tone), and get a shop to fab up your exhaust with dual exits. it will be alot cheaper than buying a dual exhaust bolt on system from a company also. i can go ahead and tell ya that mbrp and flowmaster(although the 50series delta flow isnt loud) are going to be too loud for you since you kinda like almost stock sound. hope this helps you out!!

What note? These trucks are too damn silent!!

I'll be looking for something myself. I had a Flowmaster on my Dodge and it was a nice sound, but I was looking for something a little different. A nice pur at idle and louder as the rpm's were increased.

Take a trip onto YOUTUBE, lots of vids/sound clips of different exhausts.

I'm looking for dual exits also.

What's mbrp?

Off the top of your head (Yeah, I didn't search for this...) - what's the most popular flowmaster folks are running on the newer tacomas?

I had a Flowmaster American Thunder series on my Dodge. I'm not sure what that compares to in the series (40,50,etc).

I have the same truck and just recently put 40 series Flowmasters on her. It sounds pretty good but it took some getting used to because I had and '98 B4000 and kept it stock until last November before I sold it. You're a PJ? Where from?

hey janster, here is a link to what mbrp is..... and they have a dual exit setup for the newer tacomas(v6 only though i think)

http://www.mbrp.com/

as far as the flowmasters go, i myself have a 40series on mine(love that rumbly tone) as alot are running the 40 series, as well as the 50 series suv and a few of the delta flow mufflers(40 and 50 series both) nad i think i may have seen maybe 2 or 3 people on tn running the 70 series. hope this helps!!

Never heard of them before.... Tried to look for sound clips on Youtube but nothing of tacomas. Still shopping around and not serious yet.

you may want to look on tn for a mbrp soundclip, as i think someone on there got the setup and added a soundclip.

I went with the magnaflow muffler and stainless steel cat-back dual exhaust. I had Flowmaster on my last truck and wanted something a little quiter this time around. I too wanted a dual exhaust that was as close to stock sounding as I could get. I think no matter what after market muffler you get it will always be a little bit louder than stock. The muffler I used was the Magnaflow (MAG12251). I could not find a muffler that sounded like a stock exhaust for a dual setup.

i gained 1.5, maybe 2 miles to the gallon with my airaid intake, but i think removing the secondary air filter and and my exhaust(along with good gas) played a big part as well. you can tell it breathes better when you get into the throttle on the interstate though.

hey sako,
actually, the toolbox doesnt come into contact with the composite part of the bed at all. it sits on top of the sides of the bed where the caps are, and i used some long self tappers to screw into the metal(all the way through the cap). no problems with it...just have to retighten every once in while. some people have used j-hooks instead of self tappers......more or less so they didnt have to drill a hole in the cap and metal rail. hope this helps.

tocomaman06 i kind of thought that was one of the ways. but the toyota metal skin is kind of thin. im sort of stuck on this one. i need the tool box for my work but i cant put one in thats wider the 14.5 in cus i have to fit my quad in there for hunting season.i found one cross over but only 61in across and 14.5 wide witch will work but not giving alot of area to drill to (ie across bed is 64ins) get my drift!

look for a guy round here by the name of "kilo" and check his pics out, as he may have just the box you are looking for.
