Hey guys, i did my dash light mod today and while i was tearing the shit outta my gauge cluster, I saw that there was one connecter (middle one in the pic) was connected to those little black non-funtioning buttons. It was two over from the fog light button. I was wondering if this is used for something. If so, would i be able to Use this button assuming i can find out what its for?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It would all depend on what the option it controls is.

It's the VSC buttons isn't it?

Toyota will often use the same wiring harnass but they won't plug into anything because you don't have the options. Atleast, in some cases.

Hmmm, I know i don't have VSC or any of that fancy stuff. All i have is the Fog light Button and nothing else. the rest are all black and dont do anything. So, if i was to connect this i.e. find the push button for it, would i actually have an "option"? even though i bought it like that? This is a used truck BTW, so i have no idea if this thing had options originally. I was Submerged "i think" so they couldve just replace the dash with whatever and not connected the other buttons. Maybe??

no i don't have the rear diff lock. there's no button for it. all i have is the fog light button. so me thinks if i can connect this, i might "have" another option like rear diff lock, that was previously unavailble to me before, but i'm not sure :notsure:

The center plug is for ATRAC. This connector is useless unless you have a rear differential lock. In the FJC, it can be connected to an ATRAC switch if the FJC has a rear differential lock, but doesn't have the switch.

Thanks, no my rear diff doesn't look like that. I was kinda hoping, well its good to know. I was just curious. I also saw one below where the mirror adjuster thing is, also hanging there not connected to anything.

No,I don't have a sport model. Its just trd or 4x4 v6 auto with painted fender flares and a fog light button. No vsc, hill assist, atrac, lock rr diff button. I guess I'm hard core like :D

Hmmm didn't think of that. I thought a trd OR didn't have to have a RR diff lock button to have a mechanically locked diff? Am I wrong? Did I believe this whole time I was doing two tire fires? I know I lock both up when I ride the brake. Hmmm

you would know if your rear diff was locked cause your tires would chirp and hop when you make turns, if you dont have that button you dont have a diff lock.

Sports come with the LSD (and the sport hood).

You bought this truck after it was submerged or before?

I meant I don't have the rear diff lock BUTTON. Sorry my bad. Doing this on my phone, forget words sometimes. I know I can light both of them up and when I put it in 4hi or 4lo and turn on dirt, the back is sliding cuz of the diff being locked. So I'm pretty sure I have an OR truck, just missing the extra options, and the buttons that go with them :)
