Vibration between 55 and 60

Is anyone experiencing a vibration between the speeds of 55 and 60. It is a constant slight vibration that you can feel all the way up to the steering wheel. As soon as I let off of the gas the vibration stops. Any suggestions or anyone had this fixed and know what it is?

I have the same thing. When I first took delivery of my truck it was real bad. They put on 3 new tires and that pretty well fixed it (I have 255/50/20). But every once in awhile it will come back at 60 mph. I'm going to have the dealership look at it again.

I hear that the rear leaf TSB can cause this. Have any of you had this done?

I heard that it can have something to do with the rear axle alignment. Has it always done the shimmy?

Well that takes me to another deal. I had my truck aligned and the rear axle is off for sure!!! The only way to have this slight unalignment fixed is to have the entire rear axle replaced. Wow! Im going to have to take this thing in!

I'm pulling things out my butt now...there should be some adjustment available to align the rear axle. For the entire axle needing to be replaced seems really stupid.

I had the same thing when I took mine for a test drive. Right at 55. Had service dept check it out. When I picked up truck days later and drove home it was gone and hasn't returned.

if you dont mind getting a bit dirty.......loosen the u bolts for the rear, give it a good yank(or 3) then tighten everything back up........may align it correctly then......just my .02(especially since i kinda hate going back to the stealer)!!!

is the spring tsb the cause of this defect or is it just making it more pronounced?

somebody post up if you find a link to the class-action against toyota for this defect.

This vibration has been a nightmare for me. 2008 Tacoma 4WD, my sixth Toyota and first with any trouble. Steering wheel vibrates like mad above 55mph. Did it on first test drive with stock steel wheels & Dunlops. After one week, put a set of OEM alloy wheels and Les Schwab Toyos (same size as stock), and did the same thing. I've had the alignment checked & rechecked, the tires balanced 5 times, the rotors and drivelines measured for spec (all good), and it still does it. Getting worse. I've got 7K miles on it and want to get rid of it, but anyone test driving it would notice the shimmy. The dealer says it's the tires (despite the vibration being there with the original wheels AND the new ones). Schwab says it's the truck, which I believe it is. Am going to pursue it one more step with the dealer, then take it down the Lemon Law path (not excited about that). For a brand new $30K truck, this f*&cked up.

my 07 4wd did this, I also noticed that when I felt the slightest shake, around 40-45 mph, I could switch to 4h then back to 2h real fast and the vibration would go away. Dealer said the Frt axle bearings were not installed correctly at the factory. They replaced the complete assy. No more problems.

So there is a class action on the leaf springs?

sorry about your problems!!! just wondering....you say the tires have been balanced 5 times, but were they balanced right?? were they road force balanced?? if not, that may be the problem.

Took delivery of my 08 DC TRD offroad yesterday. Same problems from 53-63mph and was told I needed 3 new tires. (egg shaped from setting on lot for long time?!?) You all have me scared now. Hope this isn't a 'here we go again'. Supose to put tires on tomorrow. Will pick up on Fri. I'll get back with the result.
