I went to the dealer today to get a ding repaired for free. While I was there I went to the parts department and inquired on the price of a new overhead console with the compass and temp.

    $1,074!!!!

Now, I did expect it to be astronomically high but I was thinking more in the $600 range. Needless to say I will be keeping my eye out on ebay. The one that just went for $405 recently was a steal.

So far from what I have read the previous years will not work in an '09.

Nothing wrong per se. I just don't have the temp and the compass display which I loved in my previous cars. I don't need the compass since I have a GPS but the temp display is a lifesaver.

I remember years back I was driving in my '95 Blazer and all of a sudden the temp sensor started flashing "ICE" on the display and the temperature dropped ten degrees. The road was wet from a rain so I slowed way down. As I kept driving I saw about ten cars in the ditch. This was on a major Interstate. I really felt like the temp gauge saved my butt that day.

Yes, only the TRD came with the temp and compass display. From what I have read the temp sensor looks to be there and the wiring is there so I just need to get one and hook it up.
