I stopped my my dealer's maintenance shop yesterday and asked about the rear spring TSB for my 09 and they had no clue what I was talking about. They said they searched all of Toyota's TSBs and maintenance bulletins and could not find anything. They got one of their more experienced mechs and he said the yellow sticker was put on by whoever enstalled my Peragon bed cover. Of course I had to break the news to him that I installed it and the sticker was on the truck when I bought it from THEM.

So what do you do? You come home and get on tacomaworld and paste the link to the yellow sticker thread so they can research it. I also told them about some guys now getting yellow stickers in the mail for a reduction of 4 or 5 pounds.

Think I should be worried about taking my rig to them for work???

Now I will have to admit, I do not know what you mean by "find the TSB here"?

Yes, but some 09 owners have gotten the TSB free, and why would they stop it and just reduce my useful load 300 lbs?

    Thanks for the link though!

    None, yet.
I have an 09, generic little tacoma, 4 cyl 5 lug auto, I have the yellow sticker. I kind of like the way mine rides, and it will rarely get worked hard. I got it from a clunker trade in and since it get such good mileage, has cold ac my g35 has been parked. Should I ask about the tsb, will it make it ride rough when it is empty?

First, as stated above, the rear leaf spring tsb does not include '09 at this point. People have had it done whether they have contacted Toyota first with their issue or have worked with a dealer that has been able to get Toyota to okay the warranty work. Some have been denied and some have had to go through hell to get it done. You must approach it properly. Go in with respect and knowledge of what you need. Don't act like they owe it to you.

Second, the load modification sticker is a totally different animal and has nothing to do with the leaf spring tsb. There is actually a tsb in regards to the incorrect load modification stickers being placed on some vehicles and new ones are being sent out. The sticker is somehow related to the wheels and tires.

So in conclusion do more research about the leaf spring tsb and if you really want to pursue it, either contact Toyota or go to the dealer and see if they can help you out. Use of proper tact and diplomacy and you may be granted your wish.

    dexter,
That is how this all started out, me at my dealer asking about it. They had no clue, so I put them in touch with tacomaworld.

How much more finesse could I have than to send them to the experts!

my dealer played dumb as well. I took the TSB printed out and they ordered the parts and did it without any problems. I sure hope they were playing dumb anyway, otherwise they actually are ignorant.

Your best bet would have been to take a print out of the TSB. They don't care about an online forum.

Speaking of printing out the TSB, where does one find it? Toyota.com directs to customer service.

As far as my dealer and the forum, they welcomed the info as they had no clue as to what I was talking about. Hopefully it does not make them TOO smart!

I called Toyota corporate yesterday and they said a rep would get back with me within 24 hours. She just called and said my truck was not covered under the TSB because there is no problem with my truck. I asked why it had the same serial numbers on the springs, the yellow sticker, swayed on the corners, squated with a less than max load or with a trailer hooked up? She simply stated "your truck does not have the same issue as the 05 to 08s". I said why? She said "it just doesn't because her tech told her so". Good answers. She also stated my rig was made in Mexico. What does that mean to anyone?

I brow beat her some more and she is going to re-address with her tech and get back with me. I did tell her I knew they had done the TSB to 09s and she said "How, the internet?" I had to say yes.

I sure hope you guys are credible...

The Toyota rep never called me back and I was going to go see the dealership President today, but got an e-mail yesterday afternoon saying they had ordered the parts and would be doing the TSB next week.

    Thanks much guys!

I had my 2009 done and it was like pulling teeth. I had to hand feed the dealer all the TSB info AND show up at the dealer with 600# of water softener salt in the bed. Then they did it.

Then two days later I pulled it all apart and added another leaf, but you get the point!
