Well yesterday I got the 5 d-rings in the mail from http://www.armysurpluswarehouse.com/product/rope-ring-with-clip-b21-5-for-500-3752.cfm They look to be a really good quality. I paid $10.01 total. Not too bad for five d-rings. The install was very simple. I believe this is one of the most useful and simpliest mods that can be done. I should be able to secure my quad much better now. If anyone is deciding to do this or not I would recommend it. Thanks to everyone for doing the writeups on the site. Here are some pics. no the best but you get the point. It might not be the prettiest install but it sure is useful. sorry the bes is so dirty, I use it quite often :)

No they don't rotate 360 degree's but the ring part can be moved from one side to the other

Looks great! I think I'll end up doing the same thing. The sliding adjustable tiedowns arent all that strong. These would be a nice addition and would compliment the bed perfectly.

We visited Corner Brook last year.
Mailed some post cards to the family and 2 weeks later when we got home to Az. they still had not made it yet.
    Took about another week.:D
Most likely the border patrol was looking at them!

Did they fit the bed bolts, or did you have to drill them out any?

has anyone found the cost to use factory d rings, in theory, could a factory d ring just replace the current botls, so no drilling was need and 360 spinnage can be attained?

I bought the same ones and had to drill them out. Any old drill bit can do it. Just start with a small one and work your way up.

To get the washer off, I used a deep socket and a hammer. Couple taps and it was off.

Not sure what your question is
I used a pair of factory D-rings and they spin and did not require drilling. And it doesn't replace the bolt...it goes under the bolt. I wish I would've gotten the Army Surplus ones because the factory rings cost $27 shipped (for 2).

Were you drunk when you posted that?

Yes, let's not replace those bolts since those hold the bed to the frame...let's just get that out there

Have to drill out the holes to fit the bed bolts. And I cut off a segment of the bed bolt washer (and repainted black) so it will clear the d-ring bracket. Or I suppose you could not cut the washer and put it in under the d-ding if you wanted... or even leave it off completely and consider the d-ring plate to be the washer.

I drilled mine out, ground the bolt to remove the washer, and reinstalled with the d-ring then the washer underneath...

The factory d-rings were gonna be like $50... I opted for the $10 Army surplus D-rings... They don't rotate, b ut I doubt it is necessary...

Actually, if you wanted them to rotate you could drill the d-ring a little larger and put a slice of spacer between the bolt head and washer... THen when it was tightened down the d-ring would still spin...

I thought about doing it, but decided it wasn't really worth it...

Also, not sure about the factory d-rings, but if you tighten the bed bolts to spec, I'm not sure if they will spin w/o a sleeve set-up...

Yeah, I forgot that I had to dremel grind the bed bolt shoulders to get the washers off.
