TRD OR 4x2's ??

I guess I'm confused: what's up with TRD OR 4x2? why would you spend money for a TRD OR package that has no 4wd? is there anyone out there who owns one? do you like it? why not go with a 4x4 SR5 instead?

I know!! That's why i posted.....I'm not knocking (Wish i had TRD)...just wondering the thought process on the purchase?

i'm seen a few people say, "I don't need the 4x4" but i'm thinking...then why do you need the TRD OR package?

 

well people probabaly want a TRD OR PreRunner so they get the good offroad goodies of the OR package like the locker n rims etc, but without the gas mileage of the 4x4. Basically a TRD OR PreRunner would do just as fine as a non-TRD 4x4 since the TRD OR4x2 would have 2 wheels spinning when the locker is engaged and a regular 4x4 would have 2 spinning when 4x4 is engaged. I guess it just depends on where you want your power either all out back (TRD OR 4x2) or distribute it front n back (nonTRD 4x4). But why not just get a TRD OR 4x4 so you got three wheels spinning.

 

Also price could be a concern.

Well as an owner of 4x2 trd sport. Why, liked the looks, options that came with it, upgraded suspension since we tow and use the truck for hauling. Would never use 4x4 down here in the desert, doesnt snow and we dont go off roading, have a Artic Cat fort that.

 

I thought about a 2wd, and I DEF. wanted the nice TRD seats, wheels, and the nice stance of the TRD suspension. Obviously not everyone needs 4wd, but wants a nice truck.

 

i own a trd or pre-runner. it was traded in by a couple who moved up to a tundra. i owned a chevy z71 for 10 years and it was really only put in 4wd when i would go down a gravel road just to keep the front differental working from time to time. in other words, a 4wd is nice if you actually use it.

 

I have a 4x2 DC TRD off road Package......

I like taking long trips and i wanted a truck something that is powerful, comfortable, practical and good looking. Tacoma had it all.... Notice i dont go off roading at all and hence did not needed the extra weight of 4x4. Now i went with the package because i liked the options i tow sometimes it have the Tow package with the bigger alternator, transmission cooler, outlet in the bed and few more things. I also have the rear diff lock so if i do ever get stuck i have something to help me out.... it was a huge price diff between 4x4 and the TRD package plus i would never get a base tacoma 4x4 versus a fully loaded one without the 4x4 .... personal preference but i am a hugeeee fan of 4x4 also.. but not somehting that i would ever use.

 

reason why i got a prerunner is because i cant afford the 4x4. i wish it were 4x4. reg cabs dont come with trd package so i have open diff
