could this be the source of my strange sound?

    been hearing a clicking coming from the front left wheel well. checked my brakes today and on the top of the caliper there is a little pin that i was able to push in. i checked the other side and i couldnt move it at all. hmmm...

    Was it a bent up, long and skinny spring? If so, that is to hold the brake pads in place. If the spring came out of the hole on one side, it's possible that the noise was the brake pad moving within the caliper.

    duno, i didnt pull it out. i just pushed it back in. it wasnt out very far.

    Yeah, my pads "click" a little too. I'm going to guess that's what your hearing. I don't think it's a big prob. though. Some people have tried that "brake squeal stop" stuff on the back of the pads. I just live with it.

    well i just took a trip and was still hearing it. it wasnt quite as loud but when i got out i was able to push that pin back in a little tiny bit.

    oh, btw you can really only hear the clicking sound over 30mph

    Have you checked to see if anything is stuck in the dust/mud gaurd? the steel plate behind the brake disk?

    Not really. Its gonna have some play in it. The spring is holding it from falling out.

    Nope, that pin is normal. Its called the I have 50k miles on my truck and the brakes are getting worn out. I was looking at the front brakes the other day and I was able to push in this pin too. As the brake pads wear down sometimes more of the pin becomes exposed but you can push it back in. There is a clip on the other side holding the pin from falling out.
